I mostly cut wood for BBQ and open fire cooking... a bit of the haul from the weekend, got probably 4 more cord to haul home.
Welcome to the club smokebuzz! Apple and cherry are my favorite woods for smoke. Nice mellow flavors.
Welcome to the club, smokebuzz! Glad to have you with us! I do quite a bit of outdoor cooking too, using namely cherry, applewood, hickory, oak, mulberry, sassafras and maple for the flavors. We recently built our pizza oven, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite places to spend my spare time!
Mostly personal, but have done some for hire. We have a larger family, and having everything ready at the same time or doing lunch and supper was hard on the old smoker. Scotty Overkill , That is an amazing pizza oven, I have thought about building 1 myself.
If you like cooking with wood, you won't regret building one! I cook on the open pit all the time also..... Your BBQ is a great setup buddy! Glad you joined up with us, welcome aboard....
We do the open fire often as well, I'm showing the GF your pizza oven... I'd like to build something kinda together, outdoor pit with a pizza oven..
Welcome to FHC. Good to see new folks on board. Do you burn wood other than smoking? Lotsa good wisdom here at FHC. I had to unlearn a lot! --Sirchopsalot
Excellent introduction smokebuzz! I try to use everything I can find in the fruit or nut family wood to burn for BBQ, sans walnut. Apple and cherry are the mainstays but I'll put oak in for keeping the fire going as well. We're building on some property so might have to wait on a set up and will think about adding a keyhole firepit later.
