Mr Mdavlee, thanks for taking the compression reading on the 7900. I think I will be fine.

I don't use the decomp on them myself. If you do machine work to one and get it up around 200 then you'll notice it more. The started will thank you for using it.

Mr Mdavlee, Good information. I like to know as much data on the 7900/7910 as I can. This way I know what I am getting into.

    I understand. They're a little heavier than a 372. It's less than a lb overall.

They also "feel" like a bigger saw than the 372

Just went and picked up my 7900 and then my 665, almost identical in the hand, both the saws feel bigger in the hands than my 372XPW.

Thanks guys, I have been seriously thinking of trying the 7900 for my next saw. I never ran one, so that is why I am asking all these questions. Mr KRL, you know my situation. I feel very comfortable with the 372, now I would like to try the 7900.....

I purchased a VERY nice 7900 from KRL. I just couldn't get used to the shape/size/feel of the saw. My preference is the Husky........ but I sold my 372. So, in an interesting twist of fate, I traded the 7900 for a brand new 2166 which is on its way to TN to become a ported 2172 :drunk::rootintootin:

They are kind of odd feeling compared to the husky. More like stihl balance with spring av.

Mr Hittinsteel, I was at Mr KRL shop and saw your 7900 with the red top cover when I went there to pickup my 372xp.
Now I hear you sold your 7900.......??? I am heart broken....... Your red topcover was rare. I was going to PM you if you still have your 7900. Oh well.....

Mr Mdavlee, I have tried different Stihls like the 440 and 441 and I liked them. No problem. I am open minded and not afraid to try different things.

There would have been plenty of interest in it here. It would have made a good control specimen for what I'm working on.

So after one cut, I didn't bother, swapping the bar back over to the 041.. Lets just say a few weeks ago it was 2mins per cut with the 041 on the first couple rounds.
I had this entire log bucked in under 10:thumbs:
