It's been a nice stretch here, hoping for more! Boiler is slowly eating scraps, splitter trash and various other rejects. A little earlier than normal lite up, but who cares, it's not 90 and humid!

We have 34.2 tonight with possible frost, it's 73 up here and 71 in the sleeper. I have some pine mixed in with about three splits of ash that were in here from when we stopped burning in the spring, the basement is 79 heading north.

36°F here. Have had a small fire going all day. Really Small.
Had some 1.5 year fell, paper birch uglies just barely going and would put a bit of 2 year old slabs of white spruce on to bump it up. And a split of half dry rotted fkws on top.
Time to load the stove and go to bed. Going to put 2 more splits of birch on and cork off the draft . I get a little air leakage around the door now that the latch bolt is wore down some. Will put a new bolt in soon and maybe see about a new door gasket.

35 out right now. Kept waking up from the furnace kicking on, so I figured I’d have my first fire of the year. Some elm limb rounds, some cherry splitter odds and ends, and even a chunk of scrap 2x6. Feels good! EECDF490-4BFF-411B-B46D-8A088856EB40.jpeg

57 on it's way to low 80's. Don't see starting the stove until end of the month, but that could change.

I've got a suspicion that there'll be another light off before the end of the week here. Looks like Thu or Fri. I hate hearing the LP furnace firing up....

54 now heading to 70 again!

Buddy shot a small buck. I helped track it and get it out then in his truck. Got it out with atv but used tractor to lift into truck.

In my post above from last night, I said that there were three splits of ash for the overnight fire with pine. I actually filled the liberty up with ash, when the basement temp hit 79, I shut off the fan. The temp up here was 72 heading to 73 when I called it a night.

We had a temp of 28.4 this morning with the temp up here at 70 and the basement still at 73, we had a fire with just pine this morning, the temp up here at 72.

I think tomorrow we'll put in what is leftover of the ash from last year, tonight should be in the 20's again so the overnight fire will be all ash.

This morning we still had a nice bed of coals from the ash.

I can relate to this. It kills my back to split vertically. But some rounds demand it.

49 here. Poplar skid I split up from work and a small piece of cherry. Just enough to take the chill off.

It would work if one likes to stand while working but might need another person to bring wood to you.
