I felled two dead white pine today and then brought the limbs over to the fireplace and split the rounds which I also brought over to the outdoor fireplace.
I moved another three loads of that junk wood we pulled from the brook over to the outside fireplace using the tractor today. It looks like we'll get about fours days of rain starting tomorrow or tonight so we brought in another two loads of shoulder season wood early this morning.
Months back on Friday the 13th, the rhino quit by the trail along the brook when I was coming down from up top with the third load of cherry. I let it sit for about five minutes but it wouldn't start. I walked home and asked the wife if she could come with me in the RTV and pull back the rhino, sure. When we made it back to the rhino, the wife said why don't you try and start it, didn't it make me look bad and started right up. I had called a shop nearby and wanted a few things checked along with the compression, at the time we brought it up most everything checked out fine except the compression was only 93. I think the compression on a new rhino should be around 200 so he gave us a price on the top end being rebuilt and we setup a date. A end of July date turned into the end of August because of what I called the truck from hell they were working on. After hurting a digit and having a family emergency the end of August turned into September. When I went to start the rhino it had lost all its compression but we got it up to the shop. After the top end rebuild, the rhino compression test read 192 without any leak down. They recommended five hours of break in time without any heavy loads being towed, I went 10 hours before my first ride up any hills today. The pictures are from my ride today, I spent most of my time clearing trails of dead branches and some smaller stuff the wind took down, attached are some pictures of the ride. I started my annual festive season weight loss a few days before August 15, I have x amount of days left, I started at 227.8 and set a goal of 206, this morning I was 211 so hopefully we'll be eating some nice meals soon but not over doing it with late night snacks. When I was telling ole Backwoods Savage about the weight loss today but I still had some days left, doesn't the old turd start eating and then have ice cream and tell me about it!
Glad you got the rhino fixed. And, just be glad you didn't have to be anywhere near the after effects of ice cream eating........ice cream farts!!!
I just put a new starter relay in the rhino, with the old one in there, you would shut it off and the rhino would still run but not all the time. I did order another one just incase.
I haven't been doing much outside work lately, just some yearly chit that we do, that's out of the way. My weight loss in preparation for our festive season meals is almost done, I started out at 227.8 and tipped the scales at 209 this morning, hopefully I'm at 208 or below tomorrow morning. I'll make some spaghetti sauce for the wife on Saturday night and we'll have a nice meal on Sunday.
I started cutting again this morning, one dead standing cherry and some of the maple pictured above. I'll get some pictures up later.
Getting caught up on your thread. You have really been busy. That was a job cleaning out the Brook. Lots of stuff y'all pulled out. Good job, sir...... I know you're glad that's done. The rest of the work done looks great too...
A few pictures of the dead cherry and the maple mother nature brought down. The Maple in the picture dated 9-25-2022 is what I bucked up today.
The job we did in the Brook was a b__ch but we removed all the wood without slipping on those rocks, my wife was a huge help, I was in the Brook and my wife was hauling wood up the bank. The tractor was nice when hauling out the big logs, it saved us a whole bunch of work.
She won't leave yet, I'm cooking spaghetti sauce tonight for tomorrows supper........after that all bets are off.
I mowed the lawn today, hopefully it's the last time I have to do it this year and hopefully next year we have a rider. I made the sauce earlier tonight so the house is smelling pretty good and the wife won't be leaving until Monday!
About three or four weeks ago I promise a neighbor up the street some pine for some fires outside, I had the pine ready about two weeks ago and finally talked with him. He came down in his J.D. and trailer and picked it up, we had a nice long talk and he was off. I did dry out more tarps for covering more wood, they'll get covered tomorrow or Wednesday. The wood I'm covering won't be for this year.
I won't worry anymore when I plow out that area in the winter, they were cut low to the ground but you still needed to raise the plow up some.
