We’ve been wanting a firewood bin for for the longest time, so I built this. Holds 1/2 face cord. Should be enough fuel for 8-9 days. Quite the upgrade from our old storage tote. Also makes a great place to read a book for my youngest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks good. Trying to finish a bin myself that I started last year myself , It's time to get it wrapped up. It will be better that the plastic bin in the corner we used as well.
Looks like the exact same shape/design my dad built when I was a youngster. He even set it up the same as you. Just to the left. He had fireplaces however. One additional add on that dad did was a hinged lid. Later he built matching bookshelves above. Nice storage!
That sounds like a great add-on plan for someday down the line. The problem we encountered was the overall girth of this unit. It was difficult like a couch, tryin to get it downstairs, its 42"x31"36"tall
Been trying to finish up my box for storage. Hemlock from log on the mill to this. A little final sanding and then stain and a few coats of clear. A bit of work but has been fun.
Dammmm! From tree to piece of furniture. And i thought your metal work was top notch. Wanna see it in person.
Beautiful work! Taking a log to a piece of furniture must be next level feel gooder what kind of stain will you be using?
I am not sure yet. Trying to do some homework to see what my options are. I do have to make it darker to match our other things but don’t want it too dark. Not being a woodworker I am open to any or all suggestions.
Thanks but really I am not. Just fake it best I can and learn as I go. For me it is a nice change from working with metal and cars on a daily basis.
Minwax was the stain ive used years back. They may have color swatches at box stores, Sherwin Williams etc.
Golden Oak was always my favorite (Minwax) Not a dark stain tho and probably more suited to oak. Box is too pretty for firewood. Best beat it with a small tow chain for awhile before staining LOL
Same as what I have used. I have some here and been playing with different shades and time soaking in . still expietent Thanks joe. Actually been playing with golden oak. I might have to increase the time soaking in or maybe a second dose. Still playing with it. I did actually think about beating it up a little but held off on this one. no time today to mess with it Appreciate the compliments everyone. It’s just a hobby that helps save a tree from becoming firewood
