How do you like that lite-weight bar on there , I have a 550 with just a standard bar that I think is 16 inches.
Picked up these 2 over the weekend during the Junk Jaunt at M2theB prices really hoping that the McCulloch will run, feels like it has a lot of compression, but man it’s heavy! 404 chain and 80ccs of log bucking torque should be fun
Love em…never ran a mac but 80cc 404 chain that thing will prolly keep cuttin thru filthy wood nice score!
I’ve got a 250 that needs a full carb build. It’s in good shape except for that, from what I can tell. In line for when ever I run out of projects. I got it at a buZZsaw BRAD discount
Not sure I really have a plan for it. Figured I’d give it a quick look over and see if’n it’ll run without to much effort. Never have run an old homelite. Just always thought the blue ones looked kinda cool. It’s possible that it could be up for adoption
That saw is a tank for sure. Id rather see it resurrected than scrapped. You cleaned it up real nice Mike. Id love to try a cut or two if you get it running. When was the last time you ran out of projects?
Well it seems to run pretty good! ( wish I was a little better at tuning) tried it out on some really dry elm crotchety stuff out behind the shop. Made a bunch of dried noodles. The chain it came with was actually in really good shape and pretty sharp. Air filter and chain tensioner are a little buggered and I think it needs a clutch drum sprocket bushing. But overall I tickled with it. Never really made it bog down and I was pressing on it pretty fair. Can’t wait to get it into something green and softer. Gonna have to find a 32-36” bar for it so I can “stand up and buck” like Billy Ray
