Has been wet and cool. I am wondering about my wood. It was two years dead when I cut it last fall. Its been cut split and stacked since last fall. Hope its had time to dry out. Now we have 90's temps and humidity really high.
yes I need to do that as I have a meter. But still makes me wonder whats it going to be in November. Just thinking out loud. This crazy weather
I have some soft maple that I split on the small side in April. Gets full sun in the afternoon; never been covered, aside from having the bark side up on the top couple layers. Just tested it this weekend, and the highest reading I got was 21% on a bigger re-split. Most was at 17%.
Yep Summer has finely arrived for the last week or so... But if we didn't have a taste of summer how could we enjoy the cold?...
Yes, it depends upon the wood and has it been top covered? Or should we ask, how was it stacked? As for those 90 degree temperatures, please feel free to keep them down there. With the humidity we have I can only imagine what it is like down there. I'd probably spend the whole day in air conditioning.
Cherry and beech I would guess probably ok depending on stacking as was mentioned. The oak and hickory will depend on how dry it was when cut, but you did say dead so you might be fine.
This summer was cool but the humidity was really low. The past week has been no joke though. I saw the dew point hit 76!!! That's tropical.
I wouldn't bank on the Oak but the other stuff may be pretty decent. Top-covered? Single row? Huh. I seldom saw the lowest humidity of the day below 50%. Yesterday and today I was working on a scrounge....about died out there with temps over 90, 50% humidity and the sun beatin' down.
Yep, sun can kill the RH real quick. I bet you have been having cool evenings and a lower dew point followed by a big warm up lately.
Yes, the sun can kill the RH but that dewpoint is what really makes things uncomfortable. We're finally out of that system. Really nice today with the high being 70. Right now it is 70 with a RH of 53% and the dewpoint at 52. Downright comfortable out there.
