My horse ranch wood connection text me again last night.
"Hey buddy, I stacked some more dry wood next to the driveway, if ya want it."

I can't say no, when it's this easy. He's about 10 minutes away from me. I haven't had to cut a tree down in an embarrassingly long time. I just pull up to this guy's driveway and toss it into my trailer. All I have to do is split it. It's all seasoned and ready to go. I've got around 8 cords of rounds stacked on my property from this guy alone. He told me that the firewood pipeline will never dry up, as long as I want the wood.

This is the pic he text me.

Of course, my biggest helper made short work of the pile!

The stack was 90% seasoned Douglas Fir. Good stuff.

    Full trailer. Job well done.

Does it get cut to your stove length?

A horse ranch. Does he keep expanding pastures, which is why he's cutting trees, clearing land?

Nice way to get your wood! Is he a consumer of adult drinks? I'd want to keep that pipeline flowing as long as possible.

Awesome! And brings back memories. Some of my first outside work as a little kid was helping to move wood. Great job to you both!

That is great! Perhaps the best part is the chance to work with your son. I really miss those days but happy to see you being able to do it.

He cuts it to stove length for me. He just does all of the fire mitigation on his property by himself. It’s darn near a full time job. He’s got a lot of acreage. He enjoys Coors original. So I drop a suitcase of it in the shade for him about every other trip. I’ve honestly only met him in person once. He’s pretty reclusive. A lot of mountain folks tend to be that way.

    Awesome all the way around!
We did some firewood for a friend when our kiddo was younger....hebhelped a lot, and now loves splitting by hand. I'll live vicariously through your pics.

    Cute little shaver!

Do you generally split it right away or let it dry for a bit before splitting? I am starting to find the same here in Wyoming. A lot of mountain people doing fire mitigation and just wanting it gone.

I always let Doug Fir (and Pine for that matter) dry in round form before splitting it. Both can be a bit stringy when green. But seasoned rounds split like a getaway car.
