I recall fall of '21 was warm, and we didnt have a fire till late....like October. We didn't see a frost here till December.
This year Labor Day saw our first take-the-chill-off fire.

That’s so nice. Wish I had a basement. I’d do the same thing if I did.

I get anxious this time of year too, then by April I'm certainly ready for a break from burning.

I am certainly ready, been begging for cooler weather since June lol. The older I get the less I like the heat. September 15th to Mid April is my time of the year. Wood is ready, Stove and boiler are ready, got about 1/2 of my orders delivered and still sitting on 40 cord or so to process. Bring it! I just hope we don't have some damp anemic winter again. Got some work to do at the hunting cabin yet, but, but Lord willing we'll be ready up there too.

After leaves drop I'll sit in stand and mentally mark future BTUs. Mostly it's BL that is standing dead.

It’s not just us! I’ve noticed the critters in the yard have been more active, squirrels, chipmunks…Even caught a dear on one of my cameras eating acorns in the driveway early one morning.

These last two big storm systems we got really cooled things off. AC hasn't been on in a while here. A trend I definitely welcome.

OK, now I'm starting to feel "it". Last 2 days I wore a light jacket to work. Overnight temps were mid 50's. Fall is approaching. This Friday we are expecting a high temp of 65! :dex:

I still see Genny cream ale occasionally around my way. Never tried it though. I've never seen beer cheaper than Genesee and that always turned me away from it.

Definitely fall here. Trees are turning, leaves on the ground. We are switching over to long sleeves and pants and jackets. Might have to start a small fire this week or next.

Ok that was fast. Out mowing the lawn this afternoon wearing shorts. High 50’s with 20 mph gusts. Chilly. Had one gust come across the open field must’ve been 35. Drove an instant cold through my bones. Had that zero turn pegged out to finish :) Got in the house and turned off the AC.

It was rather brisk especially when youre used to sweating.

It was chilly out today. Wore a sweat shirt all day, and generally was glad for it.
We have a small fire going presently, pines and Tulip. Just 2 or 3 smaller rounds and splits, stove netween 200° & 300°. It just feels nice on the first floor. Second floor must be mid 60's, perfect for sleeping.
Just took pooch out for a leaker, and its below 50. Was nice stepping into a toasty kitchen!

No, no fire. Fully agree with your synopsis of the weather. Sweating yesterday , freezing today. Certainly enjoying the cooler temps but that wind was brutal this afternoon.
