Tree service buddy came over with his Vermeer stump grinder. Took out like 8 stumps - two japanese maple, one large cherry, two small cherry, a Korean dogwood he took down (it was too big and too crowded for me to do solo) and also started work on taking down a 70' white oak. Gonna be some NICE firewood from that trunk. Here's a few pics. The acorns that come down from this white oak are ridiculous. They fly down at like 250mph and slam into the top of the cars. Scares the crap out of you if you are standing nearby. As they were taking out some of the canopy it was a good thing I was wearing my helmet because them acorns were flying everywhere. They will finish the white oak next week. Had to help push the stump grinder several times. As you can see I have a ton of granite boulders everywhere and we had to dig this huge one (just left of the hole) that was next to one of the cherry stumps.
I see a lot more space for stacking white oak There’s going to be some challenging roping between the truck and house.
Yeah they were doing a good job. They don't take unnecessary risks - they cut the pieces short and if they need to rope 10 extra pieces in order to be safe they will. 'Round these parts that how close the houses can be......but don't get be started on why that house (and the one next to it) were allowed to be built like that. Should have just been one house on those lots. Ridiculous what people will do to get more money. Shameful.
Now that the stump is gone (done this morning) I went to work putting the paver bricks back in. And of course I'm missing the corner so I figured I'd just buy a few pieces. No such luck. Unilock doesn't make that shape any more and nobody has it......luckily a good buddy in the next town had a few pieces albeit a different color but I don't care. I do need to procure 10 of the rectangular 4x8x2.5 pieces though to finish the job. Picked up 3 bags of item 4, had extra stone dust and will put the polymeric sand when I'm done.
