@jharkin I think your wife is correct.

Trying to fix this hacked clock spring on my Subaru. Found the problem and oddly enough the trace on the ribbon cable that is 3rd in from edge is cut. This means no horn, which in turns means no inspection sticker. Hoping a tech at work can work some magic on it and save me $200+.

I called the dealer, out of warranty and no that wouldn't be covered by any safety guarantee. She asked me a day and time, I asked the rate, $102/hr, I said thanks but bye.

Oh Ill probably stuff more in there. I could fill 3 or 4 of these things if I wanted to, The goal here was just to get enough out of the garage so the truck will fit this winter.

So we just bought our first home in March and it's somewhat rural. My parents are from Brooklyn, NY and I've always lived in highly populated areas. What in the world is that liquid poo they're spraying in the field across the street from me? My god it's putrid..lol.. If it keeps up I might not be on the forum much longer because it suffocated me!

Day 3 of vacation / projects week.

Started out by building a small brick/gravel pad next to the shed for the generator to live on. Another one out of the garage, its a cheapy so I decided to just lock it and leave it under a cover. While I was at it did the yearly oil change, replaced the plug (2yrs old) and gave it a test run.

Then I decided to finish a project started last year - when we had the patio built last year I asked my landscape guy to bury a couple conduits under the walk to the detached garage. He put in a 1 inch that I used to feed the 60amp subpanel, and a secondary 2 inch for everything else. I just now got around to putting the end bodies on that big conduit... I was putting it off because of the pain drilling big holes in te 6x6 sills on this old place but it wasn't too bad and gave me a chance to play with the boring drills. I'm thinking about running garage air back to the basement through this... anyone ever use those rapidair distribution kits? Nothing heavy duty, down in the basement Id probably only use a hobby air brush, blow gun, etc. (yes I know running air underground could create a water trap in the line... thoughts?)

Finally, still not started on the big project of the week (painting) but I got a bit closer. Part of that job will be painting the stairwell and there is a line of cabinets under the sloped roof along the top of the stairs that's difficult to reach, so I'm making up a small platform to stand on the stairs. (still needs some work yet) Jobs like this go a lot faster now with Dads hand me down nailer.

Speaking of which it blew the trigger seal today. Anybody know a good place to order a rebuild seals kit for a Bostich N80CB?

Finished off the day taking the kids over to my MILs (15 minutes down the road) to swim at the pool in her condo complex and have a cookout.

    Beer time!

( at this point, processing the '16 log pile is going to have to wait till October)

It's probably liquid manure and it is pretty strong. If you live in NY you probably signed a form warning you this may happen. Put some Vix on your upper lip.

That's because it is chit  the smell will lessen as time goes on. Now I wonder what kind of chit Drvn4wood thinks is on that field.

Why do dogs always puke on the rug when there is ample hard wood and tile flooring nearby?

    I thought that was a cat thing.
Ever notice that if you try to catch them as they are hacking, they will run away to an even nicer carpet and yack it up?

    Day 4! of vacation/projects week.

First off, I found the parts I need for the nail gun. An ORK11 seals kit and TVA6 replacement trigger valve. thanks Amazon :)

Next I looked at getting the truck to fit in the garage. Since its going to be tight and this one came with one of those fancy backup cameras I had a brainstorm that worked quite well. I got a can of orange pavement paint at the hardware store and painted a line dead center down the garage bay. Then I back in using the camera with the guide lines to center on the line and stop when the depth line hits the bottom of the workbench. Perfect fit and I have just enough room to walk behind it!!!

    2014-08-28 11.17.04.jpg 2014-08-28 11.28.21.jpg

Then I did the fall tuneup on the snowblower. Wash, oil change, adjusted the clutches, and for the first time in 3 years pulled the bottom plate to grease all the gears and linkages. Its looking like a real tight fit in the garage with the truck in there... might have to live outside under a cover.

Finally I started on the painting project. This is the second half of the second floor repaint I started in the fall. The mrs. helped me move all the furniture out, then I took down all the cabinet and closet doors and pulled out the windows. These 2 where in better shape than the other room, no reglazing needed this time, just a paint job. While their out I'm going to strip the remaining lead paint off the sills, treat all the wood and install spring bronze weather strip. I did the same in the other room and the results where great. Give me old windows any day.

Also finished the platform for the stairs so I can paint inside and above those cabinets without having to use a pole brush.

Tomorrow I have to mask the floor and start scrubbing/prepping.
