That must be part of the big storm ripping thru Alaska, supposed to spawn a mirror image system and bring some rain to central California and likely cooler weather, too.
Luckily, Fiona spaghetti models are starting to agree changing likelihoods of landfall on the continent less likely. Not too many days ago more of the models took a path over mainland, although it's not looking good for Newfoundland. Hope it's not much of a storm by then if it actually gets there.
We only received a quarter inch of rain yesterday and overnight, today we've had some hard rains but not for very long. The heaviest of the rains have been staying just south of us, lots of bowling going on today.
Several good downpours here. Unfortunately don’t have a rain gage. I need to buy one of those. It will be interesting to know how much we received here when done. The amount seems to be going higher than predicted.
We didn't make the list (the heaviest rains are staying south of us) either did your area. Today's Statistics | NYS Mesonet
I’ve had over 2” in last 24 hours and expecting 2” more in next 24.. But I’ve never really had the drought..
My buddies up by Cranberry Lake had some serious downpours. One of them had some havoc caused on their fairly new stone sections of long driveway.
They had flood warnings on in that area, our town was included but didn't get the heavy rains they did.
After about 36 hours of precipitation (since Sunday evening), I'm up to a whopping 1/2". The good news is that at least it was slow enough to stay in the general area it fell instead of rushing off into the street and down to the river.
We received just over 0.50 of an inch of rain overnight giving our area a total of 2 inches of rain since the storms moved in a few days ago.
Received another 1/4" after I posted, then yesterday got about an inch. As of the latest report put out yesterday, my area is still in severe drought. They only measure until the Tuesday of that week - but another inch won't be moving us to out of the severe rating. At least it shouldn't be moving towards the red - and hopefully moves a bunch the other way before the snow flies.
We have a bunch of rain coming in, we did get some overnight and this morning. On the high end, NOAA has getting two inches of rain from this system. It looks like Thursday will be our first day without rain this week, the rain gauge is back out after being brought in when we had a frost advisory our last cold morning.
It stopped rain around 9:30 or 10 this morning but we have received just under half an inch of rain so far with the heaviest rain coming in.
Good luck everyone with hurricane Ian. It looks like it taking a meandering course over the next several days.
I’m in the cone of destiny. Hopefully it will just be a wet weekend with flapping tarps. Napals is looking like Atlantis right now.
On Monday I posted we received just under 0.50 of an inch of rain, I checked the rain gauge tonight and we received a total of 1.25 inches of rain.
