Yes, going from 50:1 to 25:1 will lean out your air / fuel ratio. You always need to retune. Even same ratio but different oil. Unfortunately you are correct that average joe home owner has no clue. Bettery power is best for them. Lol

You are right. More oil leans the saw out. Really not a problem between 40-50:1 but can be a problem with more extreme. Usually runs fine on 32 as well as 50. But yes you really need to re tune. Really you should tune a saw in the summer vs the winter. I don't do it unless there is a problem. Sometimes my saws will flood out in summer and I have to lean the L screw out some, not all of them but it floods in the heat where in the cool it will just idle.

Nope. Not in semi synthetic anything. Motor oil, gear lube ect. At least in this country.

I always have a tuning screwdriver on my person whenever I'm running a non M-Tronic piece of ope or my 1/5 scale rc cars.

I do as well. Gets troublesome with all the different kinds of them and that I run many brands.

Do you have a link? I have the stihl carb screwdrivers everywhere, but they are not so good for the Husky screw tunnels. I tried to order a nice one from Amazon, but the order never got fulfilled.

The only one that didn't fit for me was the double D on the right in that picture. I ended up buying the Echo branded tool for that style.

Actually, its the small single D that was the issue, not the double D. It wouldn't fit my mantis tiller or my Echo blower.

Then maybe the one I and Dave use the semi syn aren't the ones I was told give the results you say dry and chalky residue with dry mufflers and exhaust ports.

Side note I have heard that the dino oils don't evaporate like the sun oils as much and they stick around more so are better if you have long periods on in operation...think I read this on a boat forum. I am most concerned with my outboard as it sits months at a time and it is more costly than an old wore out saw that I use that may sit around for the same amount of time. This is the main reason I try to only run semi synthetic oil in my outboard.

The kits are more than I need. My saws are all flat head adjustable, but I still put one in my basket. Just need a small flat that fits Husqvarna carbs better than the stihl screwdriver.
One small Klein costs about as much as a kit.

Please all, I want to make a note here!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( I ) WANT TO LEARN, I ask everyone to keep this on a level playing field. I don't want this thread going south. As stated, everyone has an Idea and an opinion on this oil topic and I believe we all can learn from everyones experiences.
Not everyone agreed upon what to do when we put a man on the moon, but somehow we did! Thank you all for being civil so far. I greatly appreciate it! :handshake:

I think there is some Truth to that. Mineral seems to hang in there with tenacity.

That's the reason I have a saw setting on a shelf and I'm waiting two years to open it up after running the full synthetic mix I run. I have had no issues yet over off season storage with a nice oil film present and no rust or corrosion. Some have sat almost a year.

Now, one full synthetic in particular might be the one to beat on its staying put. It leaves a sticky / tacky residue behind that doesn't appear to run or flow once the lighter chemicals are burnt off. I'm conducting more testing on it as its one of the 4 that made it through all my lean tests without damage to the test engine.

I'm running it in that ported Dolmar made Makita in my avatar.
