2 stroke oil

That was the reason I was given to stay away from them. I think they are better oils today but I still don't touch them.
as an example - Pennzoil makes an oil from natural gas now so I doubt there is any paraffin issues like the old days with that blend.
Dad was more a kendall guy. I used it myself until it stopped showing up on the parts store shelves.
I still run a lawnboy well I did until the handle broke and I will again if I can source a new handle. (reasonably priced/close)

 

Kendall was the cats-meow for air cooled motorcycles back in the late 90's.
I haven't seen that on the shelves in quite some time.

 

I remember the sludge buildup associated with Pennzoil as a kid. QS wasn’t as popular around here back then. Didn’t actually find out about the QS causing it also until reading it a couple years ago

 

Anyone remember back when Pennzoil said "100% Pennsylvania crude oil" on the can ?

 

They do and they killed the Evinrude line about 18 months or so ago.

 

Correct. Corona was the final nail in the coffin. They even admitted it basically. They still own the day and I expect to see it again one day. The chatter in the boat world seems to think it will re emerge as an electric outboard? I don't necessarily say an electric but I bet you see it again some day.
I assume you know they killed the Johnson like like a decade ago.

Right now Bombardier has announced some weird engine by Rotax one of their other companies that is going to be some weird hybrid outboard engine with a wired lower unit on it and the engine case runs semi submerged. It's an engine that supposedly will be available only on their boats the manatu pontoon and whatever their aluminum boat line is. It will be only in 115 and 150hp models. Looks like a disaster to me!!

The Rotax engines they run make great power.
I had them in snow-machines and they were far from being a slouch.

 

I've ridden a bike or two with Rotax motors. Not a slouch in a gross understatement! I put a cat elimination pipe on one of these.



Felt like I was speeding up the rotation of the earth on my test ride. The '22 is 1301cc, 180hp, 103ft lbs torque in a 420lb bike.

My statements on the new Bombardier Rotax hybrid outboard engine being a disaster were not related in anyway to Rotax engine. But the design in which that engine is incorporated into their new outboard? Why...just look at it and you might have some same questions. Why set it low in the water, sure it quiets it a bit but four strokes are already way quieter. And an engine sitting partially submerged in a housing with gaskets that who knows how long they will last? You have to break this seal to remove the hood!! It has like two lower units to get the dive somewhat under the boat....where it's not more venerable to hitting obstructions.

Anyway carry on what's your flavor of two stroke?
