Let me submit this for your consideration: I don't know whose pellets are in that bag, but I bought one and ripped it open when I got home. The pellets are relatively small (1/2 - 3/4 inch), very dry, and are light in color. Not Okanagan Platinum or North Country light, mind you. No weird green or blue colored fragments in them (those who have burned Infernos in the past will know what I mean). They also smell a heck of a lot like some BC softies I have burned in the past. Surely these are not the Infernos of old.

They must have worked a deal with someone to bag their pellets in Inferno bags.

I heard from a reliable source the plant is down and all the machines were sold/moved to another mill out west. They still may be bagging in the plant????? But they aren't making pellets after the fire. Or so I am told. Again another source said Curran softwood blend is whats in the bags. They also confirmed that no pellets are being made in the plant.

I see if anyone knows about it being a just bagging plant. I remember a few members(@oldmountvernon

and @gbreda ) saying they pass by the plant, Maybe they can check on activity???

I know for a fact that the equipment at the old Inferno plant in RI has be taken apart and sold....shipped mostly to a plant in TN...the "new" Infernos are now bagged in NY....which means whatever they are putting in the bags now is better than what was going in before.....

Based on what you are all reporting ("smell like BC softies, old plant taken apart, bagged in NY", etc., I think the original info that Jay got pretty much leads us to the conclusion that they're Curran softies bagged by them w/ Inferno badging.

Maybe Doug can do some investigative work on this one.

If these are a softwood blend, wouldn't they be the same as the Curran hardwood /softwood blend, aka North Americans?

Or do they mean a blend of softwoods??? Do they smell like crayons lol

I'm hearing softwood blend. But don't see it on Currans site. I only see Hard/Soft Blend(no ratio specified)-100% Hardwood and 100% Softwood. The Blend is the same as the North Americans. I'm assuming they would be the same as the blend????

I want them to be 100% softwood :) However, the bag is labeled "Premium" as opposed to "Super Premium", and the ash content is listed as < 0.7 - Suppose this rules out the 100% softwood product, since that list listed as a super premium product with < 0.5 ash on their website.

I hope its not the blend(AKA North Americans). But those were just premium grade. The Inferno gold are supposed to be Super Premium and stating Softwood blend usually means more softwood than hardwood ratio.

Looks like Nations Choice is still going. Wife stopped at TSC to see what they had for pellets. Looks like they ha a few trailer loads of them. No unwrapped pallets to dig into to get info, But I'll keep checkin.

Not just a thread, But a whole section for just pellet reviews! The boys here made our wish come true!! IHP was the first to add a review of MWP(Thanks IHP!!!). Only thing I can suggest is to put a year in front of the pellet you plan on reviewing so we can keep track(as pellets chance from year to year).

Thats why I mentioned them here. Might also be the softwood blend????? But no stacks were broke into, So I didn't see the whole bag for details. Wifey only snapped a pic of the side of a bag. She called them Renewable Energy, I knew what they were(of coarse) and baffle her with Nations choice. She had to look at the skid tag to confirm. If they are the softwood blended Currans? I might try them, But I'm not sure I wanna chance a whole ton and find they are just a turd in a pretty package If ya know what I mean??

I didn't notice the PFI label when I check them, But saw it in your picture. If they are rated at 0.7% Ash we should consider these to be the standard blend Curran markets(AKA North American's). I personally don't expect to much from them. But hopefully, I'm wrong!

IMHO a true Ultra Premium pellet would in no way have an ash content higher than 0.5%.

I just wanted to get it kick started!! Figured might as well start with what in am going with this year. I purposely did not put a year in the title because the date is automatically associated with each post. I figured it would get messy in that section if we have a year for for each pellet.
If a newbie stumbles upon the review they can see the whole history as well as current thought all in one place. Seems better IMHO.
