Looks like they dropped their line of saws already. Went to their website and couldn’t find any. Is this true? If so, I’m glad I didn’t buy one. Local dealer had a bunch in a few years ago and I was looking at them. They were smaller than what I wanted, but I did eye up the last Jonsered the guy had, biggest saw he had and I think it was their big saw. Price was close to right, but I passed. Looks like I might have made the right decision. However, I had always heard good things about Jonsered saws.
Jonsered and Redmax are both completely phased out now by Husqvarna. There might be a couple small sub 40cc still available at Menards, but the rest are done
Interesting. I knew Husky owned them both but wasn’t aware they planned to phase them out. I thought they were going to leave the Red Max line. Oh well.
Almost like it was the plan all along. Change a well known brand name to Redmax. Watch the sales fall through the floor, then announce you're no longer going to make them because no one's buying them. If you wanted to stop making a popular brand but didn't want to PO their loyal customers what would you do differently?
Guess it isn't profitable to offer basically identical saws in different body work. If sales were booming, I think it would be a different story. I could be wrong.
Makita said sc... you to us that have them, in favor of the whimpy electric stuff - more corporate profit in those.
Bad part is they are still selling off inventory- consumer beware- the most common replacement items na. Been a life long Sachs/Dolmar fan - now I have to choose between Stilh or Husky, OR buy the Chicom throw away units. ( had a couple Jreds in there to but Husky has killed those also.) I have a Stilh 084, but I am not particularly fond of Stilh biz plan or prices. Not that Husky is pricing is that much different. I put a lot of hours on saws way more that the avg. consumer. One thing I have found is the new saws are very miserly on bar lubrication ( thanks EPA)- not a good thing in my book as I am typically using bars from 24- inches up to 6o inches.
When did the EPA start all the bull crap with the bar oiling? I just hate it when big gubberment causes us more problems with their mandates. I want to know the year so I can start collecting saws from before that time, but I need newer saws than I already own and ran in the ‘70’s (041 FB and S10). I’ll buy some newer saws (saws built before EPA bar oil regulations) in tip-top shape and collect a few of them to have just those over the new ones I guess. I’m not an EPA fan on anything. Saws, stoves, cars, etc. I do like it when take cate of the environment but I think incentives are better than mandates for individuals or businesses.
Do you own any 3 series Husky or Jonsereds of the same time? The oil pump can me modified to put out more erl.
No. I can’t say I’ve ever ran a Husky or a Jonsered. I only have 2 saws. Stihl 041 FB and an Stihl S10. Part of my job used to require using saws (more modern than the two above) so I’ve used several others quite a bit, but it’s been a long time and I don’t recall all the models…009, I think some 026, 260 maybe MS 260, 029, 036, 036 Pro, MS 360, 066, and a few top handle Stihl saws. I hated the flip top gas caps on some of these and preferred the 041 FB type caps to any of them, then the tops for a flat screw driver. All those saws spoiled me with the chain stop safety. I should have bought myself a couple of those models back then, but then I never needed them except for at work…and they bought them. I liked the little 009, the MS 260, and the 036, and 066 models, but most of them I can’t really remember much about them it’s been so long now, especially since I didn’t need any for personal saws at home at the time. Wished I’d have bought a few models now.
The guy with the link below has a few Red Max saws left. 10% OFF RED MAX CHAINSAWS - farm & garden - by owner - sale
