Another annoying customer trait is the question i get on occasion. "is it ready to burn?" I politely counter with that freshly cut live tree in their yard is technically ready to burn then simply explain that water doesnt burn. Freshly cut green wood has too much water in it.
I carry a moisture meter and a tape measure in my truck for that prickly customer. Fortunately, I have never had to break out either.
I'm a small time firewood seller, 10 cords a season for sale. When I get to the customers house with the firewood and they say "do you take a check/card?" I write cash only in the post and when I text with them I say cash only again. Has only happened twice and the customers have both been pretty quick with the cash. I delivered a half cord of maple/cherry for $360 the other day. I started to unload and said "do you have the $360?" He gave me a weird look and said "What....oh, I have to get my kid to school then I'll come back with some cash." Almost left right then. He must have realized that because he went back into the house and brought out some money.
The more stupid and ignorant people I deal with the more I love my PETS !!! Retail is always a adventure I could not imagine selling firewood in my area I could hear the complaints now !! IT was bad enough 25 years ago JB
I don't have an issue taking checks in Nashville and surrounding areas. Most of my customers have 750K-2 million dollar homes and I know where the wood is if I need to retrieve it. I usually park down the street after leaving and deposit the check into my account via mobile check deposit. Have taken dozens of checks the last year or so with no issues. Where I live, no way would I take a check!!!
