The section i cut was probably 40 inches in diameter luckily it broke into two stems making it alot easier to maneuver I just filed my chain n it felt dull after the first couple cuts
Yep, Osage makes a real sharp chain feel a bit dull. I'd run .404 chain in that sucker if you've got the setup. 90+ cc & .404 will speed ya up a lot.
Back at it today got early start was able to take off work because were getting caught up…i took a pic of my chainsaw with 20in bar for size comparison with the stump
Hey thats quite the score. Nice grab! I like BL for splring and fall when it would burn long and low, it coals pretty quickly. In deep winter, we need more than a bed of coals though, we need a good fire long and hot. Brad and I hit a BL score this spring, so I wont be able to burn it for another year at least. Sca
The concensus is the wood is osage orange Dave, which is the highest btu wood in the US. It looks very similar to BL and had me second guessing. If you find a score like that give me a call. I wouldnt want you overheating your house.
Anybody else notice that log looks like its posing? Laying down, head propped up on its arm... Boy, that's a real hawg of an Osage...what a score!
