Been doing a little splitting.

I just got the chance to post this. Life has been a bit crazy.

A few days ago - I was finally able to split and stack a bunch of seasoned Doug fir and Lodgepole Pine. Here are some pics.

It's been nice and cool here lately. The highs have been in the mid 60's. Wonderful processing weather.

Nothing special. Just firewood hoarding in the summer. Thought you fellow firewood nerds might get a kick out of the pics.

Nice looking stacks. What elevation are you at?

 

The only conifers I cut, are eastern white pine, and the occasional spruce. It smells like Christmas when I do.

Are your conifers strongly scented?

 

Some of those rounds look on the long side. What is your max length?
Also looks like you get lots of splitter crumbs.

 

Looks great there Cash. Nice place for making firewood. Got quite a bit done. Mid 60's...wow! Still a few weeks away from that here. Mustve been nice for sure.

Oh, and who you calling a wood nerd? I resemble that remark.

My stove will take up to a 24” split or round. Some of those rounds are in the 23” range. They will all fit though. Seasoned Pine and Doug Fir does tend to make crumbs a bit on impact. I use them for kindling.

 

Thanks, Dennis! The green stuff can be a bit stringy, just like anything. But seasoned Doug and Lodgepole splits incredibly easy.

The weather has been great. Headed for a bit of a warm up this week though, unfortunately.

 

Thanks! I’ve had that rig for a long time. It’s an 07’. I bought it from a buddy who was going through a divorce. It’s a work horse.

Hey Cash, have you seen any issues with you or your neighbors with having your firewood out in the open. Just curious.

Thanks! I will cover the tops of the stacks with tarps when the snow starts flying. But other than that, I just stack it all up outside. Never had any issues of any kind.

 

Nice property.....looks secluded. Are you on a lot of land? My wife and I would like to find 5-10 acres in North Georgia when we retire. I just wanted a higher elevation so we can avoid some of this heat !!

We are on about 3 acres. We purchased a small lot next to our property when we bought our house too. Everyone around us has between 2 and 10 acres. So we are all pretty spread out.
