How many gallons of 50:1 mix do you use each year?

I’m out of mix, and I’m curious how much other folks go through.

I would say zero as well. I run 32:1. But of that ratio, I would guess I burn 5-6 gallons depending on how much wood I cut that year.

My old Evinrude VRO high RPM I believe mixes at close to 50:1 at idle it's leaner than that. I don't burn that much compared to other boaters cause we go a few miles and beach it and swim. But I'd say I burn 20-40 gallons of mix a year in that but I don't premix I still use the VRO system.

I use 40:1 also but I will probably fall in the 16-20 gallon category, maybe more. If I remember correctly I filled my barrel last fall & I think there is about 8-10 gallon left. I am dreading refilling the barrel when it’s empty. 91 octane was about $5 gallon here last time I looked.

I run 87. You get more power as it fully burns better. I don't have high compression stuff and it's turning ultra High RPM so it's not like your going to detonate at 13k anyway.

As much as I need. It depends on how much cutting and weed whipping I do.

My BR600 goes through at least 4 gallons for leaf season. It doesn’t seem like I use much for saws, because I’m only cutting up logs. I’d guess 11-15 between Blower, weed eater and saws.

I cut mostly for myself, and for friends/family in need of storm cleanup. I don't cut to sell.

    I use ~2 gal a year.

2-3 gallons of 25:1 mixed with VP Racing 94 octane small engine fuel just in saws.

I go through way more in my leaf blowers and Toro snowblower at 40:1 usually. I run 91 E-free pump fuel.

I’m a 40:1 user too. I took a guess of (16-20). That last walnut job drank 3 gallons milling and that was 2 days. Have a potential large honey locust job approaching too which is a lot more logs. Plus hoarding 4-6 cords per year for me and about 3-5 cords for my parents. All saws used are ported so they get thirsty. Always 87 pump (E15) with mostly Red Armor and I never have any issues.

I too run red Armor. I bought a gallon about 18 months or so ago. I have bounced around kinds of oils but for years have heard it was a good one. I decided to use it this time. Had used Amsoil in past but couldn't find a local source and shipping made it expensive, used Lucas for awhile as people said it was good and then after I used it all up folks were saying they saw scoring and left their saws dry with it...many used it to Mill but I was like great!! So I bought the RA.

In the boat I usually run Penzoil XLF I think is the letters or the semi synthetic Cabela's brand.

Not trying to spin this to an oil thread because I know we have some that will argue to the end. When I started milling (with a chainsaw), I popped the top end of that saw on a somewhat regular basis to make sure it stayed healthy. RA @ 40/1 always left plenty in there. And a person I trust did a fuel test milling. 87 cut faster. I don't have the desire to try and explain why higher octane isn't "better" or basically not needed, I just run what works best for me. I put a pretty decent amount of mixed fuel through my saws in a given year, for a firewood hack. I probably go over 20 but I've never kept track.

pic is not the mill saw, just showing film.

11-15 as a guess of e free with red armor at 40:1. It is what I use in my old Wisconsin engines also as it sure seems to prevent the Wisconsin sticky exhaust valve syndrome.

As for red armor oil ..... my 26 year old echo blower just had a coil failure and when I had the plug out I stuck the borscope in and was pleasantly surprised. A nice wet coat of oil and very little carbon.

Good thread. I've not heard of Red Armor before now. I'll have to keep any eye out for it.

Only thing I don't like about red armor is the pale color.
Can't help but take a second look at the equipment to make sure I didn't mess up and fill with straight.

So red armor is 2 cycle oil?

Like Mike, I cut for myself and one other, and any storm damaged wood that I can grab.
Last year was a 10 gallon year, w/ 5G B&C used for cutting, maybe another gallon or so for the weed wacker.
This year I'm well into my 3rd gallon B&C, so about 6G 50:1 so far.

Im waiting on a good sized ash score, I bet I'll put away a couple G of B&C oil on that.

Never kept track exactly but thinking of how many 6 packs of oil I buy each year, probably 60 gallons possibly more.
