Happy Birthday. Hope every thing is still green over in those mountains. Been a bit dry here.

Getting drier and crispier by the day down this end. They are expecting one tenth of an inch today if the thunderstorms develop. My Honey Locust tree has already started dropping leaves, weeks ahead of schedule. Hoping all of us that need it can get some significant rain soon.

Thanks! We are green, a moderate drought, but 3 weeks of fairly heavy rain has us in good shape I'd say.

Send some east on route 2. Everything keeps going north or south of us.

132 x 1,500. That's one long, narrow piece of land.

If there are any set back laws to the property, that could really limit any use at all.

I looked at a hobby farm that was about 300' wide and 1500' deep some years back...whatever the width was, it was 15-20 acres total...something like that. I was going to build a new house in the back by the pond and sell the old farm house and barn off that was right out by the road. Once I got estimates for building a driveway and getting electric/phone back that far my plans got dropped like a hot potato...can't even imagine what it would cost today! :faint:

Finally got some rain yesterday - 3/4" in 20-25 minutes
    Rain - finally 2-27-22.jpg

That wasn't nearly enough, and we got that amount way too fast for the ground to even attemp to soak it up, but it's something anyway. Last weekend I removed this raised bed (16" tall total) ans well as the covered dirt pile under the black plastic (where the cinder blocks are). The dirt in the raised bed was completely dry all the way down. I understand being raised, it will be drier than surrounding areas, but it is also in a low spot of the yard and gets a lot of shade from both the east side tree belt and a huge tree on the west side.

Had a local guy come in and install this 16'x18'x pad. It is a total of 12" deep (4x6 PT lumber used). Eventually it will hold a brand new 10'x14' shed with a 4'x5'x ramp and leave plenty of room for planters and perhaps and outdoor sink. Right now they are estimating December but I'm on the wait list since the site work is done and that date could potentially move up (not likely, but maybe).

The stone in there looks much nicer after the driving rain we had yesterday. Once the new shed is in place, I can empty and remove the 8'x10' metal shed that is at least 20 years old (it was moved from my old place and looked bad then). The pics, taken last year, don't really show the dents and stressors that are present but the roof has to be cleared of snow since it is so dented up there it won't slide off itself. Really can't complain about the cheap money we spent at HD so many years ago for this metal thing - who would have thought it would last this long without caving in?

That does look like it has seen better days. But when you tear it down, I would say save the metal as it can come in handy for many things.

My wife and I are celebrating 11 years married today. 19 years together.

Had the leaf spring break on the trailer of my boat on the way to the lake this am. It chucked my boat off the trailer. There's damage, but the boat is fixable. Had a LOT of help getting the DPW and their bigass wheel loader. I've got pics. I'll post later . It's our anniversary so we're trying to concentrate on the positives. We still went to the lake. Our friends picked us up at the pier. Enjoying a fire on the patio tonight. Then dinner out tomorrow evening at a place we wanted to wanted to go to in Milwaukee for a while. Aside from work, this is the first time we've been to downtown in a couple of years. This place is supposed to be worth it though. We didn't the afternoon at a tiki bar yesterday after a half day of work.

I'll post to tomorrow. Not wanting to think about it now.

If I had a larger yard I might (because I save everything and have to fight not to be a hoarder), but I'd rather give it to someone that needs it, or recycle the metal. Not staying in my yard.

I don't have firewood, so not useful to me for that. I'll put it out there for free but I don't think it is worth anyone's time to take it unless they are a scrapper. It's likely to fall apart if someone tries to move it in one piece again.

As it stands, I cover anything (engines, bags of bark mulch) that would be sensitive to / adversely affected by water with plastic. Been doing that for several years. It is mainly a place to corral stuff and keep me from having to dig things out of snow.
