I encounter these on occasion. I press the button and it makes that noise. Am i supposed to talk into it or wait for an answer through it? The wood i encountered in a yard the other day had one. I treat them like a normal doorbell. Press and step back into the yard and wait for someone to come to the door.
We have a door bell camera. that seems to be what most people do. Occasionally we get one selling solar or some other BS that tries to give you the sales pitch through the doorbell. That’s when the pit bull attacks = “my wife” I would say you are doing the proper thing.
Yes. A doorbell will ring inside, and it’s likely that someone will also be notified on their smartphone (regardless of where they are) that someone rang the bell. They can also set it so that the camera starts recording even if it detects movement. At any point they could also decide to talk with you through it, from their phone. There is a microphone and speaker built in.
From my experience through people that have them is it’s a lot like caller Id. If the look at the camera and see someone they are not expecting or don’t want to talk to they dont answer the door.
Wait for them to say something. Might take a moment, because the signal has to be received, then look at who it is, then activate audio and microphone
Treat it like an old-style door bell. Biggest difference is just DO NOT bend over to moon the door if nobody answers, like you normally would.
