I felt bad for hijacking the other thread: Sorry about that.

Well after about a year of wavering back and forth on wheter I wanted a 372XP I decided to pull the trigger on the MS 460 Mastermech built. Since you are all so familiar with it I won't even have to post pics other than the smile on my face as it's blowing through some wood. Looking forward to trying it out next week. :tree:

It should be a big step up from the Husky 450 I have been cutting with for the last year
I figure the 450 will get demoted to limbing and small stuff now so hopefully it doesn't feel to neglected. I cleaned up and sold my Echo 330EVL and my Poulan  (yes I had one). So now I will be down to my Husky 450 and a MS460 which I hope makes a pretty good pair for what I want to do.

Best part of this decision was I mentioned to the better half I was thinking of buying the saw but was trying to decide if I really needed it..... I figured I had managed to cut stuff from both sides for about a year now so I could probably just keep getting by. Her response was well you probably save $1500 a year in propane burning wood so it has more than paid for itself go for it. That right there is a good woman (or an enabler depending on how you look at it) :D

Did you buy the OEM saw or the one with the aftermarket kit? Either way I don't think you can loose.

I'd trust anything MM built too. I think you will be very happy with that saw, as you said, we all watched it being built and broken in. One thing I did to mine was to install some "Custom fit, High Tech, Anti-vibration Shims" (rectangles cut from an old athletic shoe insert   ) between the handle and the saw at the screw points. Definitely made a small improvement in the felt vibration on mine. I have a bad left wrist so every little bit helps!

OEM with the dual port muffler. It's going to have a 20" and 28" ES light bar.

LOL I will have to try that out..... I was wondering how bad the vibration on that sucker would be. Wonder how it would compare to the 272XP I used to run? Do you run yours with a 20" bar very often and if so how do you like it? I spent a long time reading through the build thread and looks like Mastermech did one heck of a job on it. Can't wait to bury that thing into some big wood! Plus I figured I know where he hangs out all the time if I got some questions....... ;)

No, I have only run it with a 25" bar so far although I have a 28" too. My 20" bar is normally used on the 036/360 saws, although I've run it on my 440 a few times (cut great). My 440 usually wears a 25" too.

Well this will be my second running saw and there is no way my 450 is pulling a 20" bar so this sucker is gonna have to do it. I'm sure it should scream through the wood with a 20" Then I will just have to start saving for a 60cc saw so I can have an in between size, then a top handle to limb with.........Wait a minute I need help I think I now have CAD

Top handles are sweet. My little 192 is my favorite for it's feather weight.

Congrats. Sorry, I started the hi jack...

That 460 will run a 20" with utmost authority. I would get an 8 pin rim sprocket (actually, send me your Addy and I will send one your way for when you have a 20" on it) and the 28" is what was made for that Saw. It will handle larger, but run skip tooth. I have a 32" that it will pull, but I have a full skip for it.

The 460 is "That" saw that every other saw wants to be. Good weight, Great Power!!

    Cheers and Congrats!!

Haha sweet buy, I'm anxiously awaiting the other 460 he had. Should be at my door tomorrow! Can't wait to get that thing screaming, I got a mulberry sitting out on a field waiting on it to be bucked. Should be the perfect break in for it.

Awesome! I was wondering if it was another forum member who snagged it up. I'm sure you will love it. I have a few trees that are just waiting for this 460. Make sure you give us a report!
