Woolly Bear 2022

I haven't seen any Woolly Bears yet but the apple trees up this way are loaded, the most that I ever noticed since living in this area.

 

We have tons to f apples too. I said that to my wife just a couple weeks ago. Tree limbs are really drooping from the weight.

 

Last year was our best apple year - this year isn’t great and the drought has caused the lower half of the canopy on many trees to drop its leaves. I’ve seen a few Woolly Bears, but not many yet. A few Red Maples on my commute are turning orange.

 

Ive seen a couple so far.

All of them have been black.

I might've done the same thing years ago.

 

I have seen many and our Apple Tree has given a LOT of apples. Will this translate into a lot of snow? We shall see soon enough.

 

I saw this on the 9/ 16, it was the first one I've seen this year in our area.

 

I've seen a couple so far, mostly small ones which are generally all black.

Pretty dark out but I caught this guy crossing the sidewalk at camp.

 

Interesting article. When I see a wooly caterpillar I don't automatically think about the moth or butterfly that will be hatched not that we see a lot of them around.
