Mike thats awesome! So a trip or two more and that'll be a score wrapped up? Its.a nice place to be to move wood around to make room for more! Scan
At least 2 trips. That red oak trunk came right off the stump. Lots of noodling is going to be needed to get chunks down to a size for the splitter. I just bought a new 18in chain for my 350, just for that noodling effort. Every year as racks empty, I think about how I can better use the area I have in the woodyard. Sometimes, it involves moving racks with wood still napping. After a few more changes, I think I'll be at maximum storage.
After thinking about your pre split comment, I now think you were commenting on the scars on some logs. Those logs are black birch. I zipped the bark shortly after they were felled. That might be what you're seeing. Opening the birch bark, helps internal moisture find its way out.
Well, the remaining logs at my SIL's are now destined to someone else who can use them more than I can. Someone in NH who can't find any wood to order for delivery, will be getting it. I offered my assistance in any way to get the wood cut, loaded onto a trailer, and delivered. We'll see.
It's for the son-in-law of the guy who lives with my SIL. The guy in NH needs to get with the 3yr plan. I don't know his circumstances.
Wood still napping. Another term for the FHC Dictionary! Good idea about opening a zipper on Black Birch. Especially if its going to sit for a bit. We're on a similar page, as are many here, bringing or giving up, or even helping folks bring in a little wood for their homes. I guess that's another real blessing about having enough on hand...being on a multi-year plan. I no longer have the drive to cut every stump, every twig, and every crotch. If some one met me at or beat me to a score, I'm not feeling like they're endangering our welfare here. Mike, there are wood blessings coming your way.
Was that your only score to currently work? Plenty more wood to be had around Always seems to find its way to you even if in small quantities. Very kind to offer your help. Idve done the same.
It was my only score. However, theres a couple of dead trees here on-site, as well as a standing dead BL at a friend's place. The state of the woodyard is good. I have growth around my garage that I need to remove. There's other yard projects to keep me busy.
