Looking at this used machine. I’ve never owned or driven a side by side. Would be strictly for use at home working in the woods. Talked to the guy for a bit. He bought it used. Says the hour meter broke since he’s had it. Meter says 900, he estimates it has 1200 on it now. Hydraulic dump would be nice for hauling dirt out for low spots on the trails. I found the same 07 machine for sale at a dealer with no plow and 750 hours for $15K. The original tailgate broke, he fabricated the one that’s on it now, says he’s a fabricator by trade. Got any opinions? 2007 Kubota 1100 rtv - atvs, utvs, snowmobiles - by owner - vehicle...
Those Kubotas are tough. The money being asked for them is insane. That one looks to be in decent condition cosmetically.
Those RTV's are super slow, but built well. The tailgate mod he did looks super solid. I'd jump on that one if I were you, and see if he'll move a little lower on the $, to make it more of a deal.
Considering everything that one has on/with it, and the fact that the hours/condition seem very reasonable, I'd say that's not a bad deal.
I found thewoodlands thread…super helpful. RTV-X1100C FULL-SIZE DIESEL UTILITY VEHICLES I’m a little worried about ground clearance, I’m just establishing the trails and they are pretty rough in spots. I’ve got only one hill, maybe 10% grade for about 50 yards. One of the things I like about the Kubota is the hydro dump for bringing material out to the woods for low spots, I suppose I can use the tractor for that too. This machine does not have a block heater either. Couple more pics from the seller. This machine looks a little rough to me but I’ve got no experience.
I have 2 of them at work that are newer but with more hours and all I've had to do to them is servicing. The equipment operators here are very tough on them and they just keep on going. Wouldn't hesitate to buy more.
Driving one is like watching paint dry on a barn.....lol We bought the new 850 gasser last year. Tops out at 50. Has a Subaru fuel injected OHC twin and a CVT drive.
I understand the speed limitations in the flatlands, but in the woods of the Northeast it is largely a non-issue. I’ve got a Rhino, which was known as a bit of a crossover when introduced due to being relatively zippy. My trails are designed for hiking and skiing- on some of my trails 10mph is rather exciting! I love the side by side for bringing a passenger, and for bringing tools.
It looks well used and probably spent its life sitting outside from the looks of the rust. But, i believe Kubota makes good machines and dealer support/parts are there when needed.price seems reasonable. I'd put a tailpipe back on the muffler, (i hate the smell of diesel smoke.)
With any UTV, you'd increase ground clearance by about 6"... plus, you can climb trees, covered with ice, pulling 10 cords of logs behind ya...
Exactly, not planning on leaving home with it, 15mph tops. I am. Ranger is basically the only option. It is my understanding that the new XP kinetic with Li ion batteries is already sold out, the old style with Lead acid batteries are hard to find too. If there was a decent used one within range of me… The Kubotas ground clearance is 7.5. Ranger is 10. Is that really a big difference in performance?…I’m asking, I’ve got no experience.
The Rhino manual says 12”, which seems generous (they might buy their rules at the same place ski areas do). She ran a wheel up over a stump and hung it on the frame once. I hung it on a rock once while taking a downhill shortcut through tall ferns. It has a fairly well armored belly.
I see dozens of elec golf carts for sale on craigslist.....all dolled up to look like an UTV but I'm thinking they aren't any good in the woods. Did Uncle use his in the woods?
Mostly around his “estate” gardens (not rich, but excellent landscaper), and well-manicured trails through his pines. My impression was they were not a viable option in my terrain.
Ummm... I forgot to add "tracks" to my post... tracks would add about 4"-6" in height... ... whew... oldfartitis...
I saw that ad, those mini trucks are neat but I’m not sure they would fit the need. Ah yes, I remember you posting about that machine, quite the beast, you sold it IIRC. Those track systems are available for the Kubota?
I would pass on that one Dave . I bought a new 2014 ( first year with the roll down windows and the new suspension ) for $19,000 otd. I’ve seen some better deals and it looks a little rough imo . These are work machines . I haul a 225 gallon tank full of maple sap in the bed and it does just fine . You can add side racks and put as much wood in the bed as you want , it will haul it . I also have a Boss V plow , no issues plowing snow without chains .
