thanks everyone for some input… the answer to what I would sell it for is… “I don’t have a clue” as I have no reference to what an almost unused, untouched, 044 would sell for? Really that’s the question I was posing to the FHC gang, what’s it worth? And I won’t put it up for sale here and throw out some huge $$ price, I’m not that guy. It wouldn’t surprise me that it’s worth something pretty silly to someone, that’s why I was thinking maybe the Arborist site or EBay… something like that to get top $$. I won’t do that here.

I may not sell it yet… either… I’m surprised someone hasn’t said don’t sell it, keep it pristine and stock and keep it!

So today I almost picked up a barely used, minty 462CM with a 28” ES light bar, guy backed out last minute and raised his price to darn near MSRP… ohh well. I’m also kicking around the idea of a 500i barely used and minty.. decisions decisions…. I’m just continuing to sell a little firewood to save up my saw kitty….

Go to ebay, search Stihl 044 and narrow it down to sold items, then sort by highest price first. You'll see what people are willing to pay.

I’ll say don’t sell it. How many folks have a mint 044 in their collection? I’ve never seen a mint 044.
I got my used 044 for $150 and I’d never sell it. It still runs like a top and I still use it. If you collect Stihls it’s a must have. Imo the best 70cc ever

I was thinking in that area too. Hey Fanatical1 what was the guy asking for the 462? Picked mine up for $950 w/28" bar and maybe 3-4 tanks through it. Here's my thread on it.

Well… sold my 044 today. Hated to see it go, I’ll never own another one in that condition.

Guy came and picked it up. He does some logging and is going to use it. He was so excited to get it and thanked me for selling it to him. Sold for $1,450.00. I saw others on flea bay asking more and not nearly as minty.

Obviously some folks are willing to splash out to get one of the best saws ever made. Doubled money if bought new in 1990 for $725.

    Holy Shot!
    That was a beauty.
$1450.00 is about a K more than I would have thought.
    Maybe 800 more.
    Congrats!
