Drove by this small pile of what I originally thought was some type fencing a couple of times but yesterday finally had the time to stop and inspect. Looks like really long and thick splits of Oak, wasn't much but it was kind of split and cut already so what the hec every bit helps. Haven't scrounged in awhile but starting to get the itch. Soon as the weather breaks this fall I plan on getting back out there. My stock is getting low!

If they cut it, we will scrounge.

Looks like more in your truck than what was on the ground.

Correct I started loading before I took the pic, lol.....everything in the truck was on the curb. Not a bad little load, I need to trim down but the cutoffs will go in the firewood smoke bin.

How common is "roadkill" firewood in your area Chuck? Is most of your wood sourced that way.

A rubber mat inside a drop in liner is kinda common...keeps things from sliding around so readily.
I know that's not what we are looking at here...just saying, there is precedent :D

Very common! Around here folks are always getting tree's taken down and you can often find posts on FB or CL. Home owners get a small discount from the tree companies by what they call a "Drop and Chop". Tree company will drop the trees take all the limbs and branches but dice up the trunk to be left behind and then the homeowner will put an ad out. Sometimes even the tree company will put a FB or CL post out indicating they are dropping x number of trees and come and get it.

That is 80-90% of my firewood, however you have to be geared up and ready to go if you want the score otherwise it's quickly taken. Oftentimes I am just not free or just not in a position to drag my trailer out and run and get it.

I need to make friends with a tree fella and have him just drop it at my house.....

Snooze and lose. Happens to me on occasion. Sometimes ill put off getting the wood and itll be there for months. Other times the next day and its gone.

Take it when you can get to it. Seems like youre doing okay though.

I'd like to just get really ahead, one big giant score or drop off from a tree folk. I am holding my own but haven't scrounged in a good bit so I need to get back on the saddle. Although we are thinking about getting 6 very big oak tree removed (if I can put the funds together) that would set me ahead and what I need. Way to big and to close to the house for this amateur.

Thank you, got it last year and it's really helped me lessen the work load when hoarding. I use to move wood around with smaller gorilla cart. It's a great cart but hec it was small...........this really speeds things up, although she is very heavy but manageable. Pulling it with the new GT is breeze....

    Good scrounge.

    Roadkill...thats funny.

Yeah, every bit helps. We're all pulling for ya....to be motivated to find time to scrounge. Be encouraged, stick with it!
