I ordered a new back garage door (30x80), all steel/no window. They delivered a 36 with windows. I'd love that door instead but the current one is a tiny foam/plastic mobile home door. I'd like to keep it but I don't want windows and it doesn't fit the studs out there. Also, the mechanic's owner called, I added one more item, COOL. every thing all together is less than we thought!

Coming from my direction, last time I went up there I took 201 through The Forks to Jackman and then caught 6 over to Rockwood. Guess it wouldn't be much difference to take 16 over to 6 instead.

wildwest most house doors are 80” tall most trailer doors are 75… At your height doesn’t matter

How does a door not “fit” studs??

The door they sent is 6" wider than the door needed.

It was a beautiful 51 degrees this morning so took advantage of the nice weather to head out early and check a preseason trail camera. Drove a bit farther up the forest service road and spotted two fresh beech blowdowns. They're even close to the road for a change! Hopefully I'll be able to get out and scrounge in the coming weeks before someone beats me to them. I'll tackle this one first (the nicer of the two). Haven't done any firewood quantity calculations/updates in a while, and my wood lot turned into minor chaos this summer, but I think new scrounges will be for the 24/25 season and beyond (barring any seriously long winters).

Spent most of the day so far mowing grass with the old Troy Bilt zero turn. New set of blades makes it nice. Nice cool temperatures for it as well.

Now break time and then out to do some more work with the Kubota L5030. Cleaning up some more area behind the pond that isn’t finished off yet. Just filling in low spots, leveling by back dragging, getting rocks out, etc.

Went to garage this morning and there’s a fox inside, after inspection to make sure it’s dead.. it was obviously bit by dog.. Lady the shepherd does not like foxes! Especially anywhere her mommy goes!!

feel bad for lil fella; maybe year old male

I have some good news, and hopefully permanent. Husband has had lung trouble for almost 4 years now. He was using steroids and inhalers the whole time, they thought maybe adult onset asthma but never confirmed it. After 2 years when we all caught Covid they now say that is the problem... He grew up on and near his great grandparents walnut ranch = ate tons of walnuts. Somehow late 30's became allergic to walnuts, 40 was cantaloupe, watermelon, and then the lettuce at Taco Bell but all those were tongue/throat swelling, coughing, serious stomach pain. Fast forward til now, (50's, with lung issues), quit eating cashews and peanuts. And now he's breathing better!!! he's down to an occasional Primatine Mist, no more steroid inhalers or prednisone. I PRAY this was the cause and it's permanent. He spent a couple years sleeping in the recliner either 1/2 the night or all night to breath better at night and everyone prefers a comfy bed.

Sorry. We had 3 older baby coons on our property, Wirehaired Viszla got ahold of one that was in our fenced dog yard, and somehow made to our garage where it died too :(

The fox I had visiting has not shown up for quite some time now. I heard that a guy down the road from us had much greener pastures.

the racoons that were here in the early spring (lots of snow on the ground yet) have never returned either; thats good news.

99 has always fed the chipmunk on our back deck. It would eat right out of her hand. But.......she seems to take more enjoyment of letting the pup go after the chipmunk now! So, I guess it won't be long and that'll stop visiting here also.

Here is a shot of the wood stove in the shack. The heat shields are in place for both the stove and the vent pipe. Won't be long and the stove will be fired up! It doesn't show it but there is also a 1" air space tween the vent pipe heat shield and the wall.
