I have a pair of suspenders that have the Kubota name on them. Don't know the brand but they work well on heavy wool pants and plan on trying them with my chaps sometime, they are wide and have clips. Baileys chainsaw supply has wide suspenders and buttons.
Look up "Hold Up" brand suspenders. Wide, heavy duty, and they have the best clasps I have seen (they have a cam system that gets tighter the harder its pulled and they dont poke holes in your jeans or belt). I really like mine! Fashion is not at the top of my list when working in the woods but comfort and function are up there!!

Suspenders are the best! I got a black wide pair with clips. They keep my chaps from sagging and I can even fill my pockets with wedges, a scrench and other tools of the wood trade and it all stays up! Those old guys know what they are doing. Now if I'm working where I'm bending down a lot or carrying anything heavy in my pockets I put on the suspenders.
campinspecter always wears suspenders. Clip on type are alright if it is dress pants but the button ones are better for jeans and work pants. He has to watch it though when he gets into the car, the back clips get catch and come undone.
There is nothing wrong with wearing suspenders but they are not all created equal. I was recently given a pair that was quite heavy and wide but my problem was the clips were large and for some reason they seemed to rub on me and make me sore. I've worn suspenders for years but just off and on except I always use them during hunting season.
I started wearing suspenders about 8 years ago. I don't have a huge gut, but I have less of an azz, so my pants were always falling down and I hate wearing a belt tight enough for them to stay up. I started with the clip types suspenders, to see if I would like suspenders at all and I did. Not only was it nice not having to hike up my pants every time I even slightly leaned forward, but I liked not feeling constricted from a belt. After I was confident I was going to stick with it, I bought "bachelor buttons" for all my jeans and bought 2" wide Carhartt suspenders for buttons. I haven't looked back since. As my jeans wore out I upgraded jeans. Now I buy Prison Blues jeans with buttons already installed and have probably a dozen pairs of suspenders, but still prefer the Carhartt's. The only time I wear narrower suspenders is for good, when I'm not working and moving constantly. For the record, I'm mid 40's and started wearing suspenders when I was 35 or 36. So I'm far from old. Edit: Just thought.......not sure if size of person makes a difference on size of suspenders or not, but I'm 6'5 and 275 lbs. So narrower suspenders tend to dig into me, if I'm doing strenuous activity, say splitting wood with an axe or something like that.
Im not fat, I'm fluffy. I like the Carhartt clip on ones though. The family told me they make my little bit of a gut "emphasized". So im loosing the gut. I think part of the problem it that the gut pushes the jeans down, which leads to tighter belts, chafing in sweaty weather.... Sca
An old saying when loggers looked for day laborers.... Get a guy in suspenders and if they are wearing belts better get 2 of them.
In my case, that was all the problem. My gut is a bit bigger than my butt, so my pants don't stand a chance.

I buy a bunch of bachelor buttons and put them in a can in my sock drawer. I've always liked the Y back the best. On my tool bags I just use oxidental leather suspenders.
