The mrs and kids went to the beach for the day so I decided to move some split piles over into the shed for stacking. I thought I'd be able to beat the heat but I'm currently sitting on a round in the shed with sweat pouring off my face so that idea didn't work . I think a spider may have bit me under the glove because my left hand has been stingin for a bit and getting a little tingly but I don't see any bite marks so keeping an eye on that. But I've managed to get some in for now and stacked another row in the shed. Gonna call it quits here soon.
I dont mind working in the heat, BUT of late Im glad I have other projects to do, and the splits can wait. Becareful. Heat exhaustion, stroke, etc... is no joke.
I don’t mess with wood in the summer. I’ll scrounge rounds along the side of the road but they just get piled up till fall
Yep, this heat is been pretty bad lately, I tried filling a beanie hat with ice, then I put another one over the top of it and put them both on, it helped but still miserable! Lately it just feels like the sun's trying to murder me!
I don't blame you, I got a little work done this AM but it's really hot out around here in S.Jersey. My wife just took the kids to the pool for a hour or 2 just to get them out of the house. We spend last week down at the shore Ocean City.
I didn’t put in much of a day today either Jeff. Being in AC late last night sure didn’t help. I will wake up a lot more hydrated tomorrow morning. Haha
I work outside all week so on days like these i try to limit my work to the morning or evening. No reason to punish myself haha. Problem is once i take a midday break, I dont feel like doing much in the evening . We were down in OC last Monday night to see some friends. Spent most of the night on the rides with the kids then walked the boardwalk for about an hr before heading home. jrider had a little too much of a good time? Haha. Geoff C i don't go as hard processing in the summer but i like to keep at it a little. I just have a ton split in piles and want to get it under the shed roof for a rainy day so I can stack more. If we ever get rain .
I work out side too. We kept the pace lower this weekend, and went through a. LOT of water and body armor drinks. We moved (loaded, unloaded and stacked) probably 2 cord sat/sun. Im not about getting it all done, but more about keeping the momentum. There is a bigger tree job coming in a wek or two, so readying for that. I dont want to be scrambling for stacking space whilst cutting and splitting new stuff. Stay cool and well hydrated and rested fellow hoarders! Sca
I only got two loads put into the basement before the heat got to me. On the plus side we got 2/3" of needed rain and it cooled right off.
Upper 90's today. No firewood, but got most of the outdoor cameras installed, plus worked on soffit vents and trying to get the sheet insulation pulled out that some moron put in to block said soffit vents.
Watch the top of your head... ... those nails look painful... Cause I know I'd have hit them a couple of times...
Hands are pretty much shredded from them little monsters. Kind of kick myself for not getting a quote for the roofers to pull that plywood last fall when the new roof was put on. I am also cutting in more vents and finding a couple spots where they're more open. I'm not a builder but even I know an attic has to breath.
