We had use of 3 heated pools, and his pimped out lifted 48v golf cart the whole time too. It was very relaxing.

I think we got the better end of the deal too, but he's a very very nice guy, offered up the camper at the campground without any trade or payment. I offered the campfire wood because he mentioned he needed some. I'm not going to have him pay for something I have. We also got him a nice gift certificate for his favorite local butcher. They make great pizzas. Honestly, I think he was really happy to have us enjoy his camper.

Elm species definitely seems to punch above there btu ratings to me. Siberian splits easier and is easy to spot by the smaller leaves and white stains on the trunk. It also smells like cinnamon imo.

That’s a thing of beauty right there. No bark, and built-in kindling.

Already stacked. It’s a top piece. Next up is a big Sugar Maple which is not great either for splitting or stacking.

Is that big leaf (Slippery Elm, American Elm) or little leaf (Cedar Elm, Winged Elm)?

I think the little leaf is not quite as hard to split.

For you folks that don’t like elm mainly The Wood Wolverine, elm rounds work great for backstops for target shooting. Slap some shoot-n-see targets on there.

    Carefully, very carefully.

There's an almost dead triple stem American (I presume) elm down by the road. Not one stem is over 8 inches. It'll fall into an old pasture which is perfect for bucking and backing up to haul. It'll get split once the temp gets well below 0. Sure hope the splitter starts...

I'm not sure, my friend. I don't know the different Elm species very well.
