    Does make you rethink these things. I don't know anyone who hasn't dropped a tree a way they wished that they hadn't. Some one is looking out for us.

    Man loon, be careful out there.
    I have a Maple in the woods that I did the back cut even with the bottom of the face cut.
    I stopped before I got too deep and the hinge is pretty solid. Hoping a good wind or some heavy snow will finish it off, because I don't think I'm messing with it anymore.
    Live and learn.
    Glad you lived to tell us about it.

    Glad you walked away Loon. Be careful Brother, it only takes a couple seconds of divided attention to cause BIG problems. Your "BIG WHITE" Foreman needs to watch you closer.

    Dave, many have done this very thing, including me. Did you consider re-notching the tree when you stopped? That is the easiest way to finish the task. You might remember this for future.

    I did think of that Dennis. I may revisit the tree soon to see what can be done.

    I am glad you made it out of the woods alive. Seems like the things we like to do the most are more dangerous than the things we like to do the least.

    I've had a few that won't go.
    1st drive a wedge or 2.
    If that don't work ;
    When cutting I have a bucket of nylon rope with a grapple. A pulley , ropes & chains.
    I throw or hook it up as high as I can, then pull as much tension as I can & tie it off.
    Sometimes takes a few minutes , the steady tension usually pulls it over.
    I've had to hook the atv to the rope 90° & pull more tension.
    PS: have a long enough rope & keep one eye on the tree .
