Whilst you guys up north are sweltering it’s the middle of winter down here and with a nice sunny day forecast all be it still cool(50f) I decided to go out to the farm I cut at and get a nice load as well as clean up some tops with a fire. My daughter and her boyfriend came out in the Nissan to help with the fire duties. Hotdogs for lunch and some sun on the back whilst cutting made for a nice day.
Matt, that is not what we call winter here. That is more like early fall here. It is beautiful though and glad you got some good help.
Yes we don’t get the freezing winters you have thankfully and snow here is a rarity but still cold but a day like this is beautiful indeed.
Man those are some big darn trees....what kind of tree is that? Nice to have help for sure. What do you go through cords per year there? Sca
There is some big ones out there for sure. They are yellowbox which is a type of eucalypt tree. One of the best hardwoods in Australia. I burn around 4-5 chords a year here. The heater runs almost non stop from late April to late September
Cool pics as usual! It’s neat to see the different trees that grow there. Also, that truck is really cool.
Looks like a fun day. Wood, chain saws, fire family...doesnt get much better IMO. Send some of those cool temps our way. You get any snow in your area HuskyMatt?
Boyfriend on the saw? Hell no lol. He’s actually been crook with tonsillitis for over a week, on the mend now but took it easy.
Yep it’s nasty stuff to split most of the time but I have a hydraulic splitter so that helps. Doesn’t stack as easy as a lot of your stuff up north but burns brilliantly, hot and long with really good coals not much ash.
Snow is a rarity here mate and if it does it doesn’t settle for long. There are snowfields in other parts of the state but a bit higher1200-1800m above sea level we’re around 400 where I live.
I'd love to have some 50's right now! Looks like a great day. My hoarding is typically just me so it's good to see it being a family affair.
Lol it’s almost like that. I work my way around the log like hand splitting on the nasty ones and if they don’t play fair I’ll rip it with the chainsaw. Might not be pretty wood but it’s awesome to burn.
