Going from oil to wood and coal inside this year . Never made any sense live on a 200 acre farm and burn oil . I got all this wood to cut , especially since our farm was timbered in 98 there is a lot of damaged bad bottom trees . Located in south western pa . I wholeheartedly got invested in this wood cutting disease . I even bought a firewood moisture tester off Amazon . Me and my boys enjoy it in our spare

FellingFundis welcome to the land of BTU's. You are exactly right, that amount of acreage no need to pay oil man. Hoard on!

Yes I’m cutting for fall spring I got a late start around June decided to upgrade furnaces . Might have to find some dead stuff but I got a huge jag of cherry needs done up. It seems to dry really fast especially at my place the winds always moving . There’s not to many days it don’t move air around. When the temp gets really cold I’ll use some magic rocks (anthracite).

Welcome! Appear to have done things in the right order……hoarded the wood then bought the furnace. Can’t go wrong with maple and cherry, especially when it comes to drying times. Looks like you’ve got some good help. What do you use to cut the firewood?

A typical farm wouldn’t be a farm without a Sthil Farmboss ms 290

Welcome to FHC. You'll like it here. We like beer, dogs and pics. Lots of pics. Looks like you got some good helpers. There are alot of folks from PA here.
There are alot of GTG in PA. That is a weekend of cutting, splitting and stacking wood. Along with alot of good food.
I would definitely recommend reading the primer that Mike posted.
