One of my firewood connections told me he had a bunch of firewood stacked by the road at his ranch - if I wanted it? He only lives a couple of miles from me. He said he took down a few good sized standing dead trees.

I have had the flu (legitimately) for almost two weeks, but finally feeling better today. So, I loaded up my biggest helper and went to get it.

This score was just too easy. It's all seasoned and about 90% Douglas Fir. It's all super solid. Zero punk.
It was also cut to normal size, so I don't have to cut cookies!

The muscle of the operation, taking a well deserved break while loading firewood.

Cool target shaped rings on this Doug Fir. Haven't seen that before. I wonder if the different coloration is due to years of drought or something?

Wow Cash! You just pick it up and take it home like that? Wish I had neighbors like that! Great to see you have your son involved. Two out of my three sons still like to help with the wood. I suspect it will be a life long thing we will do. I hope you have similar good times for years to come.

Those rings are crazy! It almost looks photoshopped, for some kind of joke or something. If I were you I’d be tempted to save a cookie or two.

I have a good friend who works in the timber industry that I’m seeing tomorrow…I’ll ask her.

And great seeing your wee one with you. So fun when they start learning about trees and can flex their knowledge. My 10yo daughter can tell at least three differences between Doug Fir and Grand Fir.

Man, thats awesome all the way around!
Brings back memories, of hoarding as a kid, and my kid hoarding with me.
    He's photogenic to begin with.

I've had 2 scores about like that in the last 2 years....both "come n get it" type scores. It is the time/work saved that I was greatful for most.

    Savor every moment.
    Thanks for sharing!

    Way to go buddy!
I consider it one of the greatest blessings to be able to work with kids as they're growing up.
My dad started taking my brothers and me to work when I was about 5 , and I've done the same with my boys.
    Nice wood score too!

Great day with the kiddo! I was also immediately intrigued by the bullseye target-like coloring of those rings, light, dark, light, dark, light. If anyone figures that out, advise!

Doesn't get much easier! That never happens for me. I can't imagine anyone going that far and then giving up to prize.

Some nice wood and a great helper there in Cash jr. Couple miles is a nice luxury too. Those target logs would make some cool cookies. Cant say ive ever seen anything like that before.

Good to hear youre feeling better. Had the flue twice since 2018 and it really knocked me on my azz.

I’m no dentist, but I’m wondering if fire would have caused it.
