I’ll be cutting down this Willow Oak down next Wednesday. I’m giving the limb wood
to someone else, but if the trunk is not rotted out too bad I will haul it to the home for firewood.

I'm predicting some rot in the base. Are willow oaks red or white family? Red seem to rot more than whites IME.

By the leaves, that looks like a red? Pointed leaves in the first picture.

I have not measured it, but I’d guess low to mid 40’s.
Willow Oak is closer to Red Oak. It doesn’t hollow out like red, but will get punky when decayed.

That's a biggun. I agree it's closer to red oak. I've got a few 30" willow oak logs out back from a few years ago. Hoping they didn't rot too much but last time I checked they were still pretty solid from what I could tell.

I wish I could just crash it. The plan is to choke rounds and lift off with a telehandler.

Some days lol. I've got about 10 cord of 30" and up stuff to get processed. It's too hot to wrestle it all the time.
