Thanks buZZsaw BRAD , certain stacking areas have more room between stacks so I can get my fat arse in there when covering it.
With an inch or maybe close to two inches of rain coming in tomorrow, I used the tractor and moved three loads of brush off the trail where the popple came down over to the fireplace. Back under the pines was nice and cool but once you were on the northside of our property, it was getting hot.
On Tuesday after some hard rains the day/night before, I did get rid of some dead pine, bark and a whole bunch of popple tops in the outside fireplace.
My little break is over, the body feels refreshed so I'll try to put up another two face cord of hardwood by August 21 or before.
I'm pretty sure I already have a face cord plus bucked up with a nice size cherry mother nature put down that should give us another face cord plus. Once I get two face cord stacked we'll have 60 f/c up with room for 6 more f/c before the hardwood areas are full. I would like another 10 f/c cut this fall but I do have a bunch of other work I'll need done before winter hits.
Hope she works with you on the weather. Too hot and humid for wooding here, although i did a little stacking yesterday and today.
It's been the same here, if I do get out cutting when it's hot, I'm out early and in early. Today around 5:20 p.m. there was a storm that hit 4 miles north of here, it dropped a chit load of rain and maybe some winds, 1400 lost power and the temps dropped to 72. When we came back from our ride it was still 78 back here in the pines.
Both saws acted up today, the 310 & 311 so I only cut about 15 rounds and said screw it. From the last winds and heavy rains, we have a soft maple branch and a cherry down. Not far from the uprooted cherry is another cherry that lost it's top so that will come down, I'll grab two more saws and see how that works. With the three cherry and the soft maple down, that will give us another two face cord for 60. I'm not sure if the beech I cut in the spring is another two face but it will be close, that would put us at 62 face before the fall cutting starts. We have a nice breeze so even though it's hot out, the breeze kept the bugs off me and made it feel cooler. I guess the only good thing is the cherry was across a trail so I did get that part cleared.
Wait until it is a bit cooler, for pete's sake! Go have one of those pizzas you're always talking about.
Not that I wanted a day off but yesterday I went to a wake, watered the flowers at the cemetery, did a few things for the wife around the house and then caught up on some sleep, slept like chit the night before. The wife did make some Berried Delight we had after supper yesterday. I'm not sure if we'll get hit with the high winds (the rain we'll take) but I sharpened up some chains and have two saws ready if needed.
No, I took them over to our local Stihl dealer that same day they acted up. I think it was a year or two back when I ended up putting a new card from a 290 in it, it had been running fine until the last couple of weeks, hopefully the carb just needs adjusting. The 311 has been a finicky saw since I bought it, that went over too. I could run up the hills going to my work for the day with that in the bed of the four wheeler and the thing acts like it's flooded out when I try and start it, it doesn't happen all the time but enough that I should've brought it back earlier.
I started on the one cherry the other day but both saws were acting up so I called it a day. Today I used the old 028 Wood Boss bucking up the first cherry and I felled the second cherry, I didn't get the rest of the second cherry bucked up today. Picture 3200 is what was left of the downed cherry, 3201 is that cherry bucked up, 3202,3203 is the second cherry that had lost its top, the wind was working against me so I needed some wedges, 3204 is some of the rounds coming home, 3205 is the top of the tree which held together until it hit the ground and the last picture is part of an old maple that came down a couple of windstorms ago.
I did get all the cherry split today, hopefully it's around a face cord. It should be stacked by the end of the day Saturday so we'll see how much it is. The second picture is the trailer load of rounds I brought home off the hill the other day that I split today.
I started cutting the pine again, I cut 3 or 4 rounds off it before I got sick of the mess that I was working in. Before I finish this pine, I'll be hauling out some rounds and then bucking up some limbs from the tree, I'll give myself until August 30 and my wife won't be looking at this mess anymore. I'll hand file the chain and take the rakers down some after todays work.
yooperdave , do you have any scheduled storms coming in this Wednesday that you could send us for Thursday?
"Storms" (yeah, right) predicted for mon tue wed. 40%, 30%, 40%. Winds no greater than 25mph. Best I can do. Or, as others might say "I got nuttin!"
