Great thread. I found it very helpful as I am thinking of a new insert myself. I am hoping hat my local Quad dealer has the E2 in and I can get a look. Also looking at the Enviro m55/ Regency I60 and Accentra 52. Also adding the Harman 35i to the look see as my home is small. And Dex thanks for the reference to the Selkirk DT pipe/vent as I was looking for that pipe and couldn't remember who made it.

Best of luck Gary, your gonna love pellets !

Savemoney is a frugal guy (or gal!), and still made the jump to a higher-priced unit (Harman).......have to admit I am curious why, when so many folks here say that the less expensive units are "just as good...."

save$ is a guy. He owned a frugal stove once and saw how it was pellet picky. So he asked us here and we tried to steer him to an upper level unit that would burn about anything he threw at it.

He's a converted Harmone(dang spell check) owner now, Even drank the coolaide even!! :p

The Harman p68 is capable of heating my home. The Napoleon needed help when the temps dropped into the teens. And as Jay said, my stove was very pellet picky. The Harman is not. So far, I haven't been able to run the Harman above 4 without it being too hot in here. This is using MWP. After I put the Harman in, I tried several other brands of pellets. Got the same results, the Harman just adjusts to what it is being fed. And for cleaning, what was every third day is no when I get around to it. The p68 is a real heat producer. I recommend it to anyone, esp those changing from wood to pellets because this stove will put out wood stove heat. Yes, the stove is expensive, yes, there were other options. However, we have a reputable Harman dealer who has been in business for years. I was advised about option from several forum members. I wined about it for 4 years. I'm surprised I didn't get told to shut my yap. So it just made sense to go with a stove and dealer with a long standing reputation. Wife and I are both seniors and have some mobility issues. This stove is appropriate for us.

Well the install just got pushed back from Monday to Tuesday!:(:( Although I did get to talk to one of the installers that answered a few questions I had.

Bummer, hard to wait. I hope that doesn't mess you up. In 2008, there were several who had to wait until the burning season was all but over before they were able to get their stoves. With so much unrest in the Middle East, I'm surprised the oil panic button hasn't been pushed yet. The ripple done effect is what drove many of us in this oil dependent east coast to seek alternatives. But in the long run, I do think that has continued to inspire folks to convert over to pellet and wood heat. For many of them, the conversion is often a bumpy ride because many lack experience or are not prepared for how to be successful.

As we all know, too many people think all they have to do is put pellets in and take ash out like a woodstove. Nothing gets cleaned and after a while people get disillusion because they can't get any heat out of the stove so they sell the stove. Thus all the deals on CL for the true pelletheads.

Now you need to list your stove in your signature.

Buy a shop vac and dedicate it to stove cleaning. They work much better than ash vacs and most ash vacs are only good for cold ash anyway. Put a drywall rated bag in the vac with a HEPA filter and you're good to go.
