Thank you! There's NO grass in the wood yard. That's by design. The processing center still has plenty. My property is just shy of 5 acres total and at least 3 are grass.

Went to a We are Messengers concert last night. Great show and they weren't ashamed to talk about Jesus![IMG][IMG][IMG]

The threads about solar kilns have me thinking. This is nothing scientific but I thought it might be interesting to wrap a couple totes for a month and see what happens.[IMG]

Knocked out a project last night. I've been accumulating lots of shorts and I've been intending to try to sell them. I pulled the splitter out last night and got busy. This is the result. It's at my roadside stand now.[IMG][IMG]

Nice! They do have a tendency to pile up especially when you dont harvest your own wood. Ask me how i know. Probably got 6-7 cords of the dang things!

How are you selling those Gary? As a whole delivered?

Same problem here. I have shorts and uglies piled on pallets and racks all over the processing center and wood yard. I figured it was time to do something about that. The current plan, since I have a roadside stand, is to advertise for pickup. It's currently on Marketplace. Buy the entire contents of the tote. If someone inquires about delivery, I'll give them a price. I can load the tote with a skid steer so it's pretty efficient.

You could sell by the truckload. Have them back up to the bin and load away. I'm definitely a fan of people paying me to take my trash!

unfortunately i dont offer pick up as wood is not on my property. A half cord of nuggets is approximately an 8' bed PU full.

I had two regulars for nuggets. Both now want 16" splits. Acquired two new customers for nuggets last Winter from advertising them. Another customer takes 16" black locust splits and cuts in half for his stove. I have a couple cord of BL nuggets ill offer him this season.

So this just occurred to me as I was reading and got my wheels turning. Perhaps you could offer bags of nuggets as an "economy" alternative to bundles, which would be a "premium" product. They should work well for people with Solo stoves, chimeneas, etc that probably don't want to buy truckloads. I sell smaller 12" bundles (using my longer shorts) for this purpose.

Looking good there, my friend. We burn alot of our chunks and shorts. I'm thinking of offering some of the oak and hickory chunks to the restaurant that gets wood from us.

odds and ends go into those IBC units here - dry out , then use when I am home to feed stove. Out In The Sticks, so most farms and larger places have owb units- grandfatherd in, local gov ( I think the county also) put a ban on new installs ( shucks) . I can understand it in a town but not out here in farm country.

Ive thought of that but retailing bundles hasnt worked for me. Woodchucker has sold nugget bags with success. Ive thought of maybe cedar nuggets bags come winter. Got a heaping wheelbarrow full of those.

Selling by the half cord seems to work okay. Ill start listing early in the burning season.

Might as well give it a try! I hate to "burn" money when I could have sold the wood!

Pretty much everything goes into IBC totes for me. I have about 30 of them.

So now I'm wondering if there is a place not at your residence where you could set up a stand. Anybody you know have a business that you could barter with? My customers love that they can come anytime and grab what they need. Some people don't plan ahead and/or don't have room to store a truck load of wood.

No place for it really. I drive by a couple farms and thought of wood storage. Asked one last week and older woman who owns it said no. There are several wood stands in the area already.
