I don't think the rain we received yesterday will change the drought monitor for our area, most of the early rains were running along route 11 (Potsdam NY) and north.

We're in D1 right now. Extended forecast is showing rain starting in the next few hours and chances of strong storms every day through the weekend so hopefully the drought won't get worse. We had a less-than-average amount of snowfall this past winter so we're playing catch up with the water table.

We're finally out of any stage of drought but since August can be a very dry month, that could change.

Prior to the last 4 days, we were in a drought. We've had a lot of rain in those 4 days. We were 10" under average precipitation for the year, and white it was hot today, we are about to get another storm in a few minutes. 60-60 mph winds. I've already battened the hatches down...

A little more rain. But a lot of wind. 60-80 mph. The bulk of the storm is over Lake Michigan now. No really issues here, despite summer crazy winds.

So far 132,000 customers without power in SE Wisconsin. We apparently got by without any damage and power never went out.

Have you noticed the amount of windy days has increased the past few years? Glad to hear o=you didn't have any damage at your place and still have the electrons flowing.

I think the windy days have increased over the years. That said, this year we have not had many summer storms, until 4 days ago.

I'm happy that I took down all the trees that were dead, which mostly were ash.

    Edit..
According to the weather people, tomorrow could be a repeat of another storm just like tonight's.

It is bad here. Grass is brown and crunchy, apple trees started to drop 1/2 grown apples to preserve water, other trees are wilting, multiple shrubs and plants in our yard have died. We are almost 1 years worth of precipitation behind. The wind blows constantly and the dirt is like powder here. The news said we are currently in 3re place for the warmest/driest year on record just behind 1936 & 1988.

It's that time of year again. After a fairly dry winter and spring, it's been abnormally dry for weeks now. As of today we've been upgraded to stage 2 drought conditions. I'm not sure why the map doesn't reflect the same information as the article linked; you'd think all these places would march in lock-step with each other ;) I noticed yesterday that I lost a couple inches of pool water due to evaporation. Last summer we had the opposite problem. When it wasn't raining moderately it was pouring or drizzling. :picard:

I just checked some stats and it looks like we have had 27 inches of rain this year so far. Usually we get about 70 to 75 inches a year. This spring has felt like it all came at once and isn't going to quit.

It’s dry but standing water in the woods. It’s weird this summer.

Funny how it changes in areas. We are also moderate drought. Some spots crunchy others soggy. Up in the county they’re still having tons of problems with water. We are active in the ATV club in Sherman where my wife’s from, having a hard time keeping some trails open. Only 90 miles from us.

U'm in D1, and D2 is creeping up on my area. Last weekend I only did select mowing in both my and my neighbor's yard - mostly lower lying and shady areas. For the most part, not only have we not had precipitation, but the air is so dry morning dew has been rare. I figured I would be able to skip a week of mowing, but we got 3/4" of downpours the other night. However, as of yesterday, the yards haven't shot up yet, so we'll see.
