The guide bars on my Iron and Oak sure have seen their better days. Didn’t realize how bad they were worn out until I saw a piece with an angled cut twisting the ram around. Ordered the new ones Saturday for $81 with shipping and installed them after dinner tonight. I have an old next to the new for comparison. Yeah, I’d say they were worn out.

What’s your guesstimate on how many cords those bars have seen thru?
    Amazing to me

Wow! I had an Iron and Oak and those parts are beefy! Looks like you are getting your moneys worth out of the splittter.

It’s a solid machine. I have nothing bad to say about it.

Yes. It was overdue and probably had a part in my thread “splitter failure” 2 weeks ago

How bad is the Ibeam it rides on?

I converted my American CLS to a box wedge. Requires a much wider push plate which imparts much greater side to side pressures. Snapped a bolt in the original pretty fast. Rebuilt the guides to be longer and doubled the bolt count to help alleviate that problem. I noticed it’s still chewing on the ibeam tho. Ouch!!
Mixed up a copious amount of WS2 (Tungsten Disulfide) with grease and coated the Ibeam edge. Hoping that works. If not I’ll have to switch to brass or bronze and replace often.

The I beam shows some wear as well but not like the guide bars. I know what you mean about a wider push plate and more stress. I shear off bolts on the guide bar of my tw6 rather often.
