Got our first harvest yesterday.
25 heads of garlic. Some are as big as my fist. Look yummy!
(I'll grab a pic tomorrow)

 

My wife and I just got back from our cabin after almost a week working on a building project, and a little time in the garden. This is zone 3b with a shorter season and many summer nights in the 40s, so not as much can be grown as can be in our main gardens at home in zone 4.

Just got in for a break after tending to things in the garden here at home. We are in the peak now of explosive growth, and fishing is going to give way soon to canning.

Here is what is going on:


Black Raspberries are just getting started


Honey crisp apples are sizing up after the June drop


Tomatoes growing on a single stem


Carrots, beets, and dill


Sunflowers, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, and rhubarb

 

Definitely height of the season for us. Now until sometime in the first half of August
Pollinated the first two pumpkins of the season this morning.

 

Oh dear. I am going to have to quit looking at this thread. The gardens in the pictures look so good. My weeds are two feet tall and are soaking wet. I think if it dries up, I will clean the weeds out and put down black plastic and call it quits for the summer.

Nice garden. 10+hours of sun, this time of year?

My yard is going dormant with the lack of rain.

 

That spot gets Sun from up to down, what ever that is this time of year. 13/14 hours

 

Same here, plus my garden was late this year because I'm way behind schedule on everything.

Guy that hays a field down the street only got 6 round bales and there's usually 13 or more.

 

Ours is starting to come in. This place actually seems to look okay when cleaned up.

The open area one. Pumpkins, sunflowers, potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and watermelons. And a row of begonias.



And her Majesty’s flowers are starting to show themselves off nicely.

Quick question for our resident pepper aficionados.
I've got hot banana pepper plants that have more fruit than leaves. And red bell pepper plants that are really small but have big fruits already. Should we remove the fruit to let the plants grow?

Wish I had a 1/4 of that. Looks great!!!

Only thing I harvested so far are about 2 quarts of red raspberries. And they grow wild on our bank.
Tomatos are growing nice, and are in abundance.

 

Zucchini lasagna

We finished the lasagna last night and the wife has made 4 loaves of zucchini bread and a zucchini cake with cream cheese frosting.
