It's brutally hot outside today. I have some stuff I wanted to get done outside this evening but I think it is going to have to wait.

We have had one of the hottest June I can remember here in Kentucky. The humidity has made it miserable to work in and summer has just gotten started.

I have to admit that although we've had a few hot days our weather has not been bad here and the air conditioner has not had much work to do. I like that.

Same here. I haven't even turned the A/C on yet this year, which is about the latest in the year I remember in a long time (I haven't even had to put the window units in yet). Still have a lot of summer left so I'm sure they will get used eventually, but thankful it has been a mild summer so far.

Good. I'll not forget how hot it was out there in August last summer.

I don't like running the AC here either but had to for a few days back in June. It ran continuously for a few hours every afternoon into the evening.

Yeah, last year was bad. Had to run the A/C from late May into September. Would hate to do that now, especially with electricity rates doubling up here. We've had a few hot days bordering close to 90, but for the most part it's been in the 70s with nights in the high 40s to 50s. The best part is that the humidity levels this year (at least so far) have been the lowest I've seen during summer in a long time. That's the game changer.

Another advantage to not having to run the A/C is that I will (hopefully) wake up if I hear the pesky bears outside (can't hear squat outside with the window A/C units running). They tried to break into another neighbor's car a couple nights ago. Had one come through the yard early this morning but have not seen any signs of attempted entry.

Though completely off topic. (Though my stacks ARE in the back ground.

Her Majesty found no less than 17 squirrels at one time eating her much cherished blueberries and peaches from our burgeoning fruit farm.

    Displeased is she…

So though they have been strictly pets and fed on the other side of the farm, an open season has been declared on the orchard and garden.

I was told that my old Mossberg pump riot 12 gauge was a bit much so I have a new 22 cal air rifle.
After a couple hundred rounds zeroing in over the last couple of days, to my surprise this thing will do a consistent size grouping of a quarter at 25 yards and 3 inches at 60 yards(distance to biggest peach tree). I have to say. This isn’t my old Daisy Red Ryder BB gun.

So here I sit. Doing my Lee Harvey Oswald impersonation. [IMG]

I have a break-barrel .22 cal air rifle too. Very effective. All ammo isn't created equal.

I’m currently at war with a groundhog. Trapping hasn’t gone well. Apparently he’s experienced. Tries to pull the bait out through the back and sides. 12 gauge #6 at 40 yards didn’t scare it too bad just laid low a few days. Hiding behind a log 243 with just a head poking up drew a little red stuff but didn’t find a body but heard some squealing in the bushes. We will see if it comes back out. 300 win mag might see some action if it does.
