Not that I play with fireworks because I don't, I consider them a total waste of money and my pup, Wyatt (Australian Shepherd) is afraid of loud noises ( and hid under the bed last night) he don't fit under there very well but he managed anyway. Been very dry here as in little to no precip for weeks and everything is bone dry so last night there were numerous fire calls on the scanner where people has set fields on fire, playing with fireworks. Couple rescue call too (most likely from injuries from fireworks), like instant removal of fingers and such. On the plus side, wed did get rain early this morning, around 1/2". Soaked in immediately. ground is bone dry. Crops suffering too. least my forage fields are doing fine though I did have to spray them with 24D (B) Buteryac a couple days ago because of invasive weeds. Been picking up Milkweed spores from somewhere but the Buteryac took care of that. Hope all of you survived with all digits intact and didn't start any fires with fireworks...
Came through the 4th, unscathed. Found out our pup is terrified of loud booms. I didn't know an Australian Shepherd could become as small as a rabbit but he can. Got under the recliner and stayed there and then went under the bed where he stayed all night. I didn't think it was all that bad but he did. Real tough guy....lol This weekend is township community day. We never go because they have a beer tent and the local farmers get loaded and then start fist fights. Every year thing. Basically trash the downtown too. Supposed to rain tomorrow, that should put somewhat of a damper on the festivities.... I do go to the local 'Deerfield' Testicle Festival (which is the next town west of us every year). Deep fried bull balls are pretty good eating. So are the hand made and deep fried onion rings too. People go from all over the State and adjoining States as well. Gotta go early as they usually sell out of deep fried balls pretty quick. They sort of taste like chicken, it's an acquired taste.
I hear that’s called “peaceful protesting” in the cities. As for dogs and fireworks, our smooth coat border collie Henry has sought the safety of the bathtub since he was big enough to climb in it. Every year for about 12 years.
We had a 130 lb German Shepherd that nearly ended up in the bathtub with me when fireworks went off outside. Our little rat terriers didn't seem to have any issue with fireworks or thunderstorms.
Yeah, thats it..... I've been lucky enough to never have a dog that was gun shy and more importantly, they loved fireworks! When a bottle rocket was shot horizantly down a roadway, they would tear after it! And once they heard the paper of the fireworks rustling, they would get just as excited as if they were going for a car ride!!
