Cleaning out some leaners on the edge of the processing area. Getting ready to start the new wood storage system. The log arch does double duty at pulling branches out to. Just lay the rope on the ground. Toss branches on top of rope then pull em all in and cinch em tight. Instead of burning them I’m donating them to the state of Connecticut. Pull em out into the state forest and leave em there. I’m creating safe zones for wildlife Should look for a subsidy.
Sounds like win-win to me! As for your rope trick, thanks for that as I need to do just that with a bunch of saplings. How many 1-3 inch saplings would you say you can cinch together? Or said another way, how wide of a stack would you put on the rope before cinching together? There is a logging gizmo made for just this, maybe it is made by Logrite?... I think it has a cable that you forms a noose and you stick the sapling stems through the loop and cinch it tight.
Hmnn,,,,,well there’s north of 20 branches in that stack. Some long, some short. Some of the shorter ones are sandwiched in the middle. Wasn’t worried about the ends protruding and being cinched by the rope. They’re cinched by the longer ones. My limiting factor is the size of the bunch I can fit inside the log arch. If you don’t have an arch the only limit I see is the power to drag them. The arch lifts the ends of the branches and cinches them with up to 4500lbs of pressure. Certainly didnt need or use all 4500lbs in this case. That does allow me to drive over obstacles. It’s like dragging a big broom. Without an arch the ends will be dragging on the ground. Ready to snag on anything in the way. Like a tree while going around the corner. Sounds like your describing a log choker. You can use a long nylon tow strap if you already have one.

Maybe. Actual state wardens are a rarity up here. They spend the summer on the Ct River cruisin up and down in boats. Can you blame them? Winter in the office. They don’t go into the woods. You could get your shoes dirty out there
Either would work. This isn’t Maine. You can get there from anywhere LOL Longer but easier to head back out and go through my front yard.
