I highly doubt the oil industry is wanting everyone to switch to EV's. I don't think their plan is, "Lets make our product so expensive that no one buys it."

It’s not bragging, it’s being honest and forthcoming.

I’m supposed to feel guilty about taking advantage of tax credits that I helped pay for just because you don’t agree with them?

Not sure about VT, but in Maine anyone grandfathered into their net metering contract should be all set.

United States Spend Ten Times More On Fossil Fuel Subsidies Than Education

Just a little food for thought…oh and the sum for government subsidies to oil and gas companies in 2020 was even more- to the tune of $5.9 trillion.

Big deal! Still the government has no money of their own. That is the point. Government handouts are the peoples money, I like to keep my money in my own pockets and not yours. Don’t care what it’s going to.

jrider I find this a little misleading, it says US government spent $649 billion on fossil fuel subsidies.. they added in cost of pollution, even if you accept that, local not federal are primarily responsible for schools. Our Town pays in excess of 17,000 per student per year for high school!
$68,000+for a high school education per child :jaw:

So whats my political ideology? You seem to know. Tell us.

Anyone, regardless of political ideology, if they are being honest with themselves, knows there is much Truth in that I said. In fact this administration even stated they want to end all forms of fossil fuel usage. Ending current drilling leases, not allowing new ones, stopping the pipeline from Canada, ever increasing miles per gallon targets for automotive manufacturers, ect ect all figure into the ev everything push.

There was an EV thread in which people asked Dave to break down the costs - and they wanted specifics. I've seen others voluntarily break down specifics of their energy saving devices in the Pellethead thread and the general bullchitting thread.

The education component wasn’t really my main focus. Just wanted to point out how much money our government spends to subsidize big oil and gas, especially when people always want to talk about anything renewable only being a money grab.

The ideology that government is a conspiracy for control and power and to extort money from the taxpayers. I can see by re-reading your post and the current one that this is not necessarily what you are promoting...my apologies.

He is a Dave denier. Some people find it easier to just deny or vociferate conspiracy any thing/event/Science/election that they don't agree with. It's an epidemic in the US, maybe you've noticed? Most of us outgrew it in adolescence.

    Ok:handshake:
It is still misleading in my opinion because it adds pollution to get to subsidies for oil. Which I am ok with to get THE real cost.
But then you need to do that for renewables also.
Mining for minerals and recycling after for windmills and waste for Nuclear etc etc

Interesting statistics. Looks like there are a lot of adolescent thinkers amongst the population. How are we to re-educate them to cast away their wrongthink? Irony is, I had a ton of institutional faith as an adolescent. It wasn't until my 30s that I started really questioning things, and it had absolutely nothing to do with fringe personalities sowing doubt in my head:
    Trust in Government Archives
But back to the EV's... I will be getting one at some point, once I'm in a completely different financial situation. Until then, I'm going to keep my 2011 truck going for as long as possible, keep carpooling to work, and ride my 1971 motorcycle until the wheels fall off and I won't feel a tad bit guilty for doing so ;)
