Crazy hot today but work needs done so, Freed up a spot to stack the rest of this wood and started moving the mound. I can pull the WheelHorse and wagon right in there. These longer splits give quite a bit of overhang. Glad I didn’t keep cutting to 24-25”. They are heavy and cumbersome. 21” is the sweet spot on this side of hoarding. Hope it goes well in my stove. It’ll take 25” max.
I'm super envious of both your setup and the weather! I just poured the bar oil out of all my saws and put them away for the season. Emptied the tank on the splitter and wrapped the whole thing in a tarp. Its been hitting low 100's all week and doesn't look like it will let up for a while. Fire danger is the other deciding factor. I'm done til Fall except for stacking splits. Those plastic pallets look like the hot ticket. What kind of place would use those so I can ask around? Brad
Thanks Jeff. It's pouring right now, dark skies chased me inside. We really needed this rain. I watched FB MarketPlace a couple times. Once I found a big warehouse listed hundreds for free. I took my truck and trailer. This is what I pulled in to: This guy was getting a little greedy, lol! This was my take.
Can you view this: Do a local search. After many seasons with wood pallets, these plastic ones are the cats meow! I could get a couple years from wood, then the cleanup of the rot was a pain, and full of nails. Plastic will probably outlast me.
My wife and I were at our sons new (to him) home this past weekend. He had enough of big city living and moved into a smaller town. Today was a beautiful day for splitting so I finished splitting the wood I had bucked for shoulder wood for 2024. I did split a bit more wood for 5 years from now. I am done moving wood into my wood shed for the year.
Sounds like a good weekend! Id like to bring our wood for this fall up, but its in a good place seasoning. And the place Ill bring it up to isnt ready for wood yet. But this fall, we'll move about 7cord up to the house. (Hopefully we dont cook that all off next season)! Sca
Finished moving the mound today. Total was 1.66 cords. Cleaned up my staging area. Had 2 full wagon loads of junk. So with the other large stack being 3.46 cords, we split 5.12 cords in 2 days.
