68 and I'd like to think if I couldn't manage a simple task like lifting my foot off a pedal in 12 years I'd be smart enough not to try it with dozens of paparazzi around.

I would hope that the cyclists stayed on the far right of the roadway.

And didn't ride two or three abreast.

And didn't pass you on the right hand side while waiting at a stoplight.

And obeyed all vehicular laws of the road as they say they do......:picard:

I've had way too many close calls with "those that ride otherwise"

Definitely use clip in pedals here. It is very easy to ger them to release so it is not an accident waiting to happen. It does seem very weird at first but it doesn't take long to get used to them.

The race officials watch things pretty close and do give penalties for wrong doing. For sure they have to ride on the right and no 2 or 3 abreast. There can also be no drafting in RAAM.

RAAM racers are not like the common idiots you come across riding like they know nothing.

It's too bad that there isn't some sort of law enforcement group funded by tax dollars that could do the same thing for those common idiots we all have come across.

The biggest problem with that is that the majority of law enforcement are ignorant about the laws already on the books! They are schooled about cars and trucks but don't know the laws of bicycles.

Two things really get me. One is the 2 females from Escanaba going around the state trying to convince people they should ride on the wrong side of the road! I remember watching once on news and there was an officer there too. Why did he not correct the situation right then on tv? Probably did not know himself.

The other is in Chesaning. The State put in bike lanes which are rarely used but when used, half of them are still riding on the wrong side of the road. Also I was once riding (not on road with bike lanes) and some idiot was on a recumbent trike and riding on the wrong side. Because of a guardrail (Shiawassee River) there was nowhere he could go if he had to and as he came to a curve, he almost got it head on. I had tried to tell him but he "knew better." I went around a corner because I did not want to be part of an accident.

I almost always stay away from towns, cities and villages when riding and stay on county roads where possible. It scares the heck out of me to ride in towns.

Almost beat the record set by Lightning Cycle dynamics a few decades ago. 5 days 1 hour with a 4 man team.

Its a must with my trike to keep my feet from slipping off and running over my legs. Plus more power.
