27 years ago I quit my job of 12 years. Took the plunge and became self employed and the old place has been a customer for 27 years. Still remember asking my pregnant wife, over the phone, what do you think about me quitting my job and we start a company.....
While I agree with the Idea…. My wife would have said keep health insurance til baby is at least 6 months!
Thanks for all the well wishes. Halfway done with the first week. SO MUCH TRAINING. about a week's worth of onboarding training. Oh well. They gave me a month to get them done and I've hammered out 90% so far. Most are online with tests. By tomorrow I'll only be lacking the in person practical tests. Wife just accepted a new job that pays $5 more per hour than her current job. And her insurance looks like it will be half as much as mine. So if we go with her insurance I will bring home $400+ more a month. Her new job and benefits plus my new job ends up totaling more take home than our previous work arrangements.
So..........you're saying with the increases is salary/wages you will be able to live at the same standard that you enjoyed a year and a half ago, huh? Glad it all fell into place. Congrats once again!!
I think I know who to attribute the following to, but not sure. Doesn’t make a difference. But it’s realism i sometimes reference “The graveyards of the world are full with indispensable men.”
Meche, We're in a real similar boat. About doubled my pay in leaving the 15 year gig. Not that it was high to start with, we're experts in finding free things, making a lot out of nearly nothing, repurposing. Saving $3K in oil every season is big cheese for us. We're not doing a standard of living increase, just staying the course and getting a little ahead. But, I did find a trailer at TSC for $2k, 2900# capacity. Half a cord of live red oak is 2444#. That I want that trailer here asap. Sca
There is no such thing as loyalty, I consider myself a mercenary and my pockets thank me for coming to that realization. Best of luck to you!!
